Simple Pieces

Shirt - NY&Co, thrifted
Jeans - Levi Strauss, thrifted
Shoes - Arche, ebay
Gloves - gift
Hat - Gift

I've been reaching for more and more simple loose pieces. This 'studio' style shirt appeals to the artist in me. It makes me want to put on an apron and pull out the paints. I've been reaching for drab, dark, comfortable pieces lately, but I'm still trying to punch up my looks.

Recently I came across a couple of these funky ribbon, woven style tops. One in black, and one in "nude". I almost didn't get the black one, but when I found the other different one, I bought them both. Sometimes I hold off on adding things to my wardrobe unless I can add more than one piece. Like adding a new color or style of print. I feel like having multiple pieces with similar feel can help make them feel intentional in my closet, instead of the trial it really is. Do you ever do that?

Sweater - stargazer, thrifted
Dress - Dzhavael Couture
Tights - Sock Dreams
Boots - Frye, ebay

Today I decided to add the black crop sweater(? really not sure what to call it) over this t shirt dress with some funky tights. Simple pieces, but everything printed or textured to balance out all the blah I've been attracted to.

I've been really inspired by mori-girl and lagenlooks. I guess this is my take on the idea.

P.S. I cut off the rest of my hair today!

  1. I thought your was shorter in the second picture! I like it! It's definitely still edgy and very you.

I also love the new blog design, looking good! And I like both outfits too, you are right that they are simple pieces, but you have really styled them in fun and creative ways!

  7. I saw some gloves like those the other day when we were buying Scott a spiffy spring coat... only they were in the damaged section, as they had a terrible tear in the hand. So sad, I loved them! Was thrilled to see you had a similar pair, though!!

  9. I noticed the new do immediately! It's awesome. I've wanted to cut off my hair so badly, but with what we might be facing later this year, have been reluctant to go short due to the more frequent cuts needed.

Those gloves are so cool, and I love all the interesting layers in the last outfit.

  10. Ooh, new hair again! I like very much. Sharp cuts look so good on you. As another 'multiple buyer' of the same style in different colours, I say go for it. Buying doubles seems to push the new style into your wardrobe, if that makes sense?

  11. I love that first pose. But I confess a special weakness for your second combo - those wild tights. I noticed your hair too. Looks great!

  14. Wow Wow. Oh I adore your second ensemble way too much. I would wear that right now. Of course, it wouldn't fit me. But if it did, I would be in it. And your hair does look great, you wild thing. Your gloves just do the job in your first ensemble. You are just too cool, Megan.
