New With a Stolen Sweater

 Shirt - Express, thrifted
Sweater - Banana Republic (belongs to the DH)
Pink cords - J Crew, thrifted
Tetra flats - Trippen via Pedshoes

Welcome to the new year everyone. I spent mine curled inside, dreaming of tornadoes (the weather is wretched, but not quite that bad). I've been on a spree of crafting, but escaped yesterday to eat at my favorite "old people" diner. It serves many of the local aging population in our town, but is open to anyone. Thankfully my young eyes can spot a crowded hole in the wall and I'll sniff out the good food - huge fresh fried catfish filets, crinkle fries, field peas (tiny black eyed peas), and later some pumpkin bread.

It's too cold though, with ice falling from the sky instead of rain or snow. Bored of my own closet I raided the Hubster's sweater drawer for his grey silk sweater to layer over my shirt. Added to pink corduroys and new shoes - I feel fabulous.

How did you spend your NYE? At a party? Curled up at home? Wherever you were I hope the new year brings bright and shiny new experiences for you.

  1. Excellent new Trippens with diagonal design, and Hubs is lucky if he gets that great sweater back. Love the bright pants grounded by grey at either end!

We stayed in, I had one last online splurge before cranking the mighty shopping spigot firmly shut-ish.

  2. That sounds like a fun and relaxed day. Men's jumpers are so much morecosy, good stealing work.

I was hoping for a quiet one, but our neighbours decided to hold a party playing their rubbish and over-loud music. So we went to a concert and a local bar, and then were home by midnight to toast the new year in with fizz. We drowned out the noise with a dvd of Kung Fu Panda :-)

Next year we will steal away to a quiet bit of the countryside, near a beach, I think.

  4. LOL, you caught my attention with the blog title. Your hubs sweater looks great on you though! It actually looks very similar to one my hubs just got for Christmas!

Our NYE was low key, spent with just one other couple playing board games. Nice and relaxing. Today I'm being lazy! Though I finally did get out of my PJs and into real clothes so we can go have dinner with my in-laws.

  5. My husband's on the burly side, though shorter than me, so most of his stuff just swamps me, but I do love a purloined man's sweater. Something about the degree of slouch works for me. And the Trippens are so fab; they're going to age gorgeously.

We stayed in, had a couple of drinks, and kicked 2012 to the kerb quietly.

  6. We had early cocktails/snacks and then tucked in for a Battlestar Galactica episode on Netflix - and I fell asleep at 11:30. I love old-folks diners too, and I qualify for most of the discounts now : > Love that sweater on you!

  11. I was curled up on the couch watching The Twilight Zone, which has been my NYE tradition for a while now. Oh, and planning my resolutions!

  14. I just sat in my chair and finished a book on my iPad and then started reading another. Nothing exciting at all.
Love your outfit, especially the shoes.
Hubby and I eat at a lot of those type of restaurants. Being as we are old too, we call them Geezer Delights. Old people know good food! At first I was insulted by Senior Discounts, then I wised up and realized, hey, why not? it saves money!

  17. Sometimes Holes in the Walls have the best food & drinks. And yes local Diners have a lot of older citizens.

I sometimes want to ride my DH's closet for a button-up or sweater of his. You made it feminine enough with Hot Pink Cords.

I love how you put your wish about NYE: "Bright & Shiny New Experiences". That for sure is the case for me. And I already wrote how I spent NY Eve.
