Afternoon light

Dress - LAmade, thrifted
Shirt - Gap, thrifted
Belt - thrifted
Socks - sock dreams (liberated from the Hubs)
Boots - Art company

Growing up in the 90s, my childhood BFF and I wear obsessed with flatforms and slouchy socks. I remember getting dressed for school and scrunching my socks just so. These slouchy socks are technically too big on me, so both pairs went to the DH, but I have stolen them back a time or two.

I'm suprised at how little wear this dress has gotten. Sometimes I get so excited about something and then don't wear it at all. I almost got rid of this dress at one point because it just felt above me. I decided to style it up instead. I may still stick it back until warmer weather, but I'm keeping it. It'll just challenge me until I figure it out.

I love taking pictures at this time of day. I love the way light and shadows play together.

Also in response to questions - I haven't dyed my hair yet. It may look brighter due to the sun or lighter because the new do is cut down to the darker parts of my hair, but the long bits are still brighter and lighter.

Can you believe Christmas is only a week away?

  3. Oh man, I remember slouching my socks too! Except I wore mine with these short sort of hiking style boots. Oh yes. The memories.

I always enjoy seeing this dress, I do imagine it's a challenge to work with, but it always looks great on you. I love the lighting in your photos today!

  4. Dress "felt above me" - no way! MMD it is YOU that makes that dress look good! Never doubt that you add the essential "it" that makes mere fabric into an outfit. I enjoy your blog and admire your honesty, creativity, and style.

  5. Oh, your hair is fantastic! And I'm glad you're giving that dress another go, because it's just so cool; I'm drawn to tough silhouettes myself, and I know how hard they can be to style.

Thanks so much for your package; it gave me a boost on a very bad day. (There's one soon-to-be winging its way back to you, but all my stuff is going out late this year, for obvious reasons.) Making internet friends with you has been a very bright spot in a challenging year for me. :)

  6. That dress is so versatile and beautiful, that I think you'd miss it if you parted with it (like the yellow boots). Love that you sock-jacked Hubs :) Gorgeous light. The new hairz really suits you.

  12. Hi Megan! I love your hair - the lighting is great! And the dress is great. I'd keep it. I have things like that -- the enthusiasm sort of dips and spikes, but there's something that I love about it. Yes, I have dresses like that! xoxo Lynn

  18. Sometimes I wonder about why I don't wear some of my favorite things in my closet. What is the philosophy behind that anyway? I'm afraid to wear it out? I'm not sure, but I have several favorite items and they're rarely worn. I have a tendency to think I need more favorite things rather than enjoying the ones I have. There is tremendous psychology in our wardrobes I think. Maybe it's not meant to be figured out. We're just suppose to let it sift and progress and enjoy!
