One Eighty

 Shirt - Express, thrifted
Suede Jacket - Danier, gift from Sheila
Jeans - City Streets, thrifted
Boots - Art Company

The weather has flipped 180 degrees, just like my mood. It is back into actual fall like weather with nasty drizzling rain and gloomy skies. Yesterday's decisions are being revamped and remade as other people have circumvented my intentions. I know that's totally vague, but I want to angry about it without ranting.

And due to the mounting frustration - I've been to retail therapy twice this week. The first was an incredibly serendipitous ebay auction win (I consider all the best luck pieces serendipitous, I also like the word serendipitous). We'll all have to wait until next week for the reveal because it hasn't arrived in the mail yet.

However I also did a goodwill run this evening. (Bad Megan!).. I found some awesome new additions to my closet. I've been trying to streamline my colors, shapes, and overall closet cohesiveness. My winter gear is consistently very different (and very dark) compared to my summer stuff. I usually have poor luck thrifting sweaters - so surprise! I came out with three new sweaters, including a Miu Miu!! dusty purple one. I also have this weird obsession with "fisherman" sweaters, but thankfully this one is in a radical teal.

I also found another pair of J Crew cords (this time in salmon/peach). I've decided the cognac ones are too small/short, despite the pink ones being a 2R and the cognac a 4S. If anyone can wear a 2/4S and wants a pair of cognac corduroys, shoot me an email. This will be my third attempt at a pair of cords that fit this fall. Wish me luck that they don't shrink in the wash!

Anyway after all that, my mood is slowly turning back to a good one, but I'm beginning to feel a bit rung out. I will say this - TGIF!

  1. One of the nicest things about GoodWill is the ability to go on a shopping spree without breaking the bank :) Great finds, as usual! (I think The Teen swiped the J.Crew cords you gave me, and has not returned them!)

I love your blues and purples together.

    DEFINITELY TGIF.

    1. I know - I don't like to talk bad about people, even anonymously, in a public forum. At least, Goodwill is easy on the pocketbook!

  4. Arg, how frustrating for you! I hate when people do that. Good for you for not venting online - it's tempting, I know.

I love seeing that jacket - if it had fit me, it would have been mine. You deserve a little retail therapy, hon! Have a good weekend!

  7. Can't wait to see the eBay score. And yes, to the new-to-you sweaters. I'm sure you don't need my advice about school, but in the long run its best to stick to your own decisions.

  9. Sounds like you have a lot on your mind, but hopefully things will work out the way you want them to.

Your retail therapy is probably better than most since you shop Goodwill ;)
    have a great weekend!

  10. Aw Megan. I'm sorry to hear about your personal 180. I was so happy for you and though I am not sure what is going on, I do hope that you pursue what you need to do for you. I really do. You are capable of so much and are very talented--don't ever let anyone else drag you down! Congrats on your super fun retail therapy! Sweaters are hard to find thrifted--in good condition. And J. Crew cords are often just as hard. I can't wait to see how you style them!

  11. I wore, and mentioned a fishermans sweater today before seeing this post! Dressing like a fisherman is high on my list. I have a shirt that makes me feel rustic, and from Cornwall, too. Good work on tactfully setting out your frustrations, which I hope abate soon, and for such a good GWhaul. Fashion karma? xx

  12. Uh oh, that's no good. :( You seemed so optimistic before and that's sad that other people are getting in the way of your intentions. I hope everything works out for the best in the end. I love huge, chunky knit sweaters too.

  13. Definitely a day for purple pants and serendipity. Your dusty-purple Miu Miu sweater looks divine, and I'm probably as excited about your mail as you are! Wishing you super-duper-sorty-outy magic now for sure. xo

  16. Fantastic finds!! Very jealous actually, I've been in a thrifting mood but have been trying not to shop with upcoming birthdays. I'm sorry to hear your school stuff isn't going so well. I hope it all works out and like Terri said above, you know what's best for you so it's best to stick to your own decisions and not ones forced on you by others.

I have to say this is one of my favorite looks of yours as of late, the jacket is perfection and the pants are great! Wish I was a smaller size, I'd take those other pants off your hands if I was!

  17. Hi Sweetie. Don't worry, it all comes out in the wash, so to speak. Clothing therapy is a blessing; it's an art form and thank God it's available. As far as your decisions, I hear you on the second-day second-thoughts etc. Just don't fall into paralysis by analysis. It's a subtle affliction. Trust your gut and go with it. It really will work out for the best.

  20. Megan, engaging in retail therapy is exactly the sort of thing I'd do when frustrated...(even when I'm not frustrated). Glad your mood is returning to it's usual state! No one would ever guess by your cool duds that your mood was any thing but cool, calm and collected!

  22. Purple is, as I've recently mentioned, one of my happy colours. It's a happy colour for you; very, very flattering.

I am several years into the search for a perfect pair of cords. Given my deep love of corduroy, I find this incredibly frustrating. I hope your search is ending with your new pair!
