Sun, Stars, and Dragons

 Dress - gift
Dragon Obi - MMD
Star Boots - vintage, deadstock
Necklaces - gifts from Lynne

I spent almost all day at my sewing machine. Usually sewing is a love-hate relationship and it takes me a few days to actually look at what I made and feel happy, but this new batch of obi belts was a pleasure to make. They're up on the shop now. Last week's two obi belts were mailed out Monday to their new owner. This dragon tie has possibly been my favorite to come across. I had this black/silver belt leftover from filling an order and had no match for it. Serendipity brought the two together.

Also I just picked up a HUGE box of buttons my mom thrifted for me. Can't wait to dig through them tonight and start sewing up some beautiful new buttonflowers.

I always wanted a pair of cowboy boots to wear in summer. However, these boots make a great approximation. I don't care that it was 98 degrees today, I wanted to wear boots.

Also on the bug report - there was a BEE in my car today. AAAAH frick. I noticed him buzzing in the car door pocket and looked down expecting a fly - NOPE. Nopenopenope. Hubs had to pull over, and thankfully he buzzed right out, but it was HUGE.

  1. I love this! Your dress is so cute, but is made so much more fun with the obi belt and boots! I just might have to try boots this summer, it might be fun just once!

Um, ick about the bee! I have a bee phobia having never been stung before. Shiver.

  2. You're really nailing your style down lately--love it! And I would have been tripping out about the bee, too. Good thing your hubby was there!

  3. Fabulous belt. I love dragons so much, even more now that I've been watching Game of Thrones (are you a fan?).

  4. What a lovely pattern on the obi! So cool. That sun necklace is gorgeous - it reminds me of one of Wendy B's.

    1. Love it, Sheila! You know I'd already own one of WendyB's pieces if Dear Hubby wouldn't kill me for buying it. I scored this necklace for Megan in a thrift store, and passed on the black jet beads I've owned since the early 90s. I love the pendant so much - and am honored because of her excellent taste and style - that she's wearing them :)

  5. Oh my goodness, I totally love this outfit and you look so cool! Every last bit of this outfit is perfection together.
I have a belt that I want to take a picture of and see if you want it. I have been saving it for years hoping I would get in it again, but I don't think that will ever happen. I'll send you a photo.

  6. SQUEEEEEE! Check your email now, please, I tried to buy the dragon tie nicely :)

I love seeing those necklaces on you, and love that you're wearing them. God, you look gorgeous.

Bugs think you love them 'cause you love bug clothes. That's just how it works, Sweetie.

  7. Those boots are amazing!

Glad to hear you are sewing up a storm - sometimes once you get started, it much easier just to keep going, no?

  9. I know what you mean. If I want to wear boots, I wear boots, dammit! no matter how hot it is outside. Then I just go back inside, defeated and switch my boots for some sandals. LOVE your boots though! a LOT!

    1. Oh, I wear mine all day! I just sweat it out. Actually these boots are fairly thin leather and don't sit against my skin much so they weren't a bother.

  11. Eek! I would have died or drove into a tree. I've been stung by bees so many times. :( I must smell like honey or something.

  12. The dragon pattern is cool. And the boots are most excellent. I wear my cowboys all the time in the summer--in fact, they are the most comfy pair of shoes I own.

  13. That is an awesome belt, I love the pattern. Those boots are cool too, though I could never pull them off. They are very Megan Mae, indeed. =)
