Weekend Round Up: Cock of the Walk

Tank - thrifted
Cardi - Thakoon for target, gift
Trousers - Lucky, thrifted
Boots - Frye

Well, I've been working on getting OUT of my own head lately. The DH and I made another trip to the shelter. I got entirely sidetracked from the cat rooms by - BABIES. Okay I'm a kitten hog. I grabbed up one of the new 7 week old ones, sat down in a rocker and let her crash out on my boobs for awhile. The DH caught my blissfully happy smile, along with one of the many, many cats in the cat rooms.

I did go chill out in each one of the three rooms afterwards. I couldn't let Danag, Nutella, Socks, or Ghost go without a cuddle. I made some new friends too, including the one kitty who's previous owner taught her to ride on shoulders! She hoped right up on mine without so much as a "how d'you do" and stayed there while I petted and made nice with all her roommates.

I also went out for fried catfish and ice cream with my inlaws at a silly restaurant called Cock of the Walk (ps how many dirty words can I fit in this post?). I made the DH take pictures because aside from the 'dirty' name, the food was DELICIOUS. We actually came home with so much food because of the generous portion sizes.

(The middle kitty is the DH's current project. She's extremely skittish even with the shelter people, but took to the DH last week with a vengeance. Here's hoping she gets a nice furever home).

  1. Now I want to go and cuddle cats too! We have a big dump of snow though so I am not going anywhere. I totally get how cuddling the cats is therapeutic but I am a bit weird. I also find that it depresses me because I want to take them all home. I fall in love and get attached. My own cat is not too pleased with me today because she wants to go out on the balcony in the snow but she wants me to leave the door open. No way!

Loved your photos Megan, and you look adorable in your outfit as always. Adorable might not be what you are going for so just to cover all bases I will add that you look sort of fiercely adorable. How's that?

  2. What's not to love about kitties, rooms full of them! That is the sweetest photo of your bottom left. You look completely relaxed and put together in that outfit. I'm glad you're getting out of your head. Mine is pretty crowded right about now too. The snow here doesn't help.

  3. How lovely! I can't look at even a picture of a cat without making a cooing noise and falling in love with them. I'm glad you're getting out and about- this time of year is always tough, even without other circumstances butting in. Hugs from California.

  7. Aw, kitties, kitties, kitties - and Megan! "Cock of the walk" is a really old expression - I love that it's also the name of a restaurant.
