Orange skirt

Sweater - Jones sport, thrifted
Skirt - DIY'd from thrifted dress
Sneaks - Arche
Necklace - gift from Lynne
Pin - gift from Debbi

Beth has been on a roll this week, and her Thursday look inspired me to mix and match my summer and winter stuff. This linen skirt is firmly in my summer pile. I've edged it into colder weather days with tights, but the middling weather is perfect for a cotton sweater plus a linen skirt. This had the bonus of bright colors. Finally!

I couldn't decide between a necklace or a pin. I've got so many amazing brooches and pins now thanks to my giving and generous friends, so I decided to go with both! The necklace is covered in stars, and the pin is a moon with stars.

I've also been doing a lot of playing with my hair, Today I gelled my bangs over to the side. Short hair is so liberating. It's easy to care for, exciting, and when I don't feel like fixing it, it still looks okay.

Woohoo it's Friday! What are your weekend plans?

  2. Yay! I love these colors! And I always like to see summer clothes make it through the winter and vice versa. I feel like we're going to be stuck in chilly weather FOREVER! I wish I had the guts to do really short hair. I've always wanted to!

  6. Somewhat related to you comments on hair, but mostly I was thinking about you ALL NIGHT... watch for my outfit post next week... I definitely was channeling you! Faux hawk? Bold colours with a bit of edge? More you than me, but fun for a night!

  8. Came over straight away to see your trainers! Very nice. And not sporty.

I cannot recommend short hair enough. 2 mins to wash, 2 mins to style :-) No hairdryer, tongs etc., no hairbrush...

  9. With the variety of looks your hair can create, coming here is like looking at a different blogger each time. :)

  10. Thanks for the shout out lady! I am glad to have inspired you! And I love this combination - orange and green, what is not to love? And I agree with Ally, your hair is looking fabulous! Also love your jewelry - this is all around a win in my book!

  11. Megan, I live in Kentucky, right up the road from you. I was originally attracted to your blog by your button flowers; then I got sucked into your zany life. Now, I'm hopelessly addicted to your "dailies". I can't wait to see what you're going to wear/do next. I'm old enough to be you great-grandmother (73), far past getting way with any of your outré fashions but I still love to look. You are so darned adorable and smart. Keep me posted.(;).

    3. Thanks for your response. I think I want you for a make believe great-grandy. You can help me style my boring wardrobe; I can cluck over you and gaze at you adoringly. Ha! Have I got great-grandmother down pat or what?

    4. Lol! I have blog-sisters, blog-mothers, and could certainly stand to expand my ever growing blog-family. ;) My actual great-grandmothers were quite snazzy dressers, so I know you can be stylish at any age. Thanks for your support, Janice.

  12. I love the mix of summery and wintery in this outfit - and I would never have thought to do both a necklace and a brooch. Love it!

Well...I got to meet Melanie of "A Bag and a Beret" this weekend! Woo!

  13. I love the orange and green together, and the necklace and pin look awesome paired. I'm jealous of your bare legs. We're having such crazy weather, it's only supposed to be in the 40s next week. Guess I'm gonna have to unpack those tights :(

  15. Yes, I love that orange and green combo too. That's brilliant, and the feminine-ish jewelery adds a cool beat on top of it all.

  16. Love the way the stripes and shoes echo each other!! Don't you love it when you pull out something like jeans, and find they still fit? For me it's a miracle, because I'm always fluctuating. Un-stretchy stuff is the worst. The red jeans are great.

It is freezing here, too. I don't really mind, though. I like wrapping up in layers. :-)

  17. Wear that jewelry! I like it all together now. With the tough haircut, plain, but bright clothes. Very awesome.

  18. This is one of your best looks this year. I love every single piece you are wearing: skirt, top, shoes and even the jewelry with the stars and moon - how cool! I like how it all gels so well together. You look great!
