Off Shoulder

Sweater - The limited, thrifted
Jeans - The limited, thrifted
Sneakers - Arche, ebay
Headscarf - gift from Ana

I needed absolute comfort today, so I went off shoulder to keep the tats happy. Thankfully the weather was sunny and warm, if a bit windy. I'll also let you guys in on a secret! The Hanes Bandini bra. I needed something that was more comfortable than my current strapless, which is great, but the underwire, ugh. The Bandini bra is basically a strip of nylon (yuck) that has straps cut out of it, which you can either wear down, or up, or one up, one down. Similar to a bandeau, but with optional straps that don't come off. They also come two to a pack.

There are a number of pros and cons with it. For example, I wear a 32D and had to buy the L size to not feel incredibly squished, so fit may be an issue, but they do stretch. They carry them at places that sell Hanes, come two to a pack for like $10 or so. This isn't a sponsored post, just a recent discovery that I paid for with my own dollahs as a omg-I-need-comfort thing. I was pretty impressed at a multi-way bra that actually worked and wanted to share my discovery since a lot of people don't talk underroos and goshdarnit that's hard info to come by.

Also new shots of the tattoos! I had the DH take them outside for clearer colors. I had the word 'know' on my back done over in a darker blue than the rest because it faded the worst and I liked that it gave a bolded effect.

The L and O in Luceo had also faded out quite a bit, but every letter in both tats got a going over. Resaturating the black and blue. Overall I'm still puffy and bruised, had more scabbing than I did last time, but hopefully the ink is in there good now.

Post touch up, 2 days later

  1. LOVE this off the shoulder shirt - what a great way to show off your tats - which look like they're healing well!

I am intrigued by the bandini...never tried one! Might look into it!

I'm also digging the headscarf. I just really like this look overall!

  2. The off the shoulder look is perfect for you and to show off your tattoo. The head scarf trailing in the wind is the perfect touch.

  3. You look very beautiful as always, Megan. That head scarf really suits you.

Hmmmm, somehow those tattoo reality shows the Teen and I watch never mention tats needing refreshment - just corrections from others' mistakes :o

    1. Thanks, dear! I know that a lot of time, tattoos will need some corrections based on aftercare and how well you heal. Aftercare is super important.

I know most artists prefer to do their own touch-ups and many won't touch another's work unless, like in my case, you're far away from your artist. The guy who did my touch ups told my mom to come back in 3 weeks to check on her's in case she needed touch ups. If you use lighter colors, like white or blue, those fade out of the skin easily, and to look really good many people have them refreshed.

  4. I love that off-the-shoulder look to show off your tats. I imagine we'll be seeing you in more tops like that, especially with the Bandini bra, goshdarnit!

Did you get new glasses? I just ordered some, so I've been paying close attention to everyone's glasses. I can't wait to get mine! They're a bit of a departure for me (red cat-eye! oh, yeah!).

    1. Hopefully! It's my only off-shoulder right now, but I keep looking for ones that are left-side oriented.

These are an older pair, I usually keep two on hand to swap out and feel refreshed. Not wearing make-up, changing up my glasses gives me a fun new 'face' once in awhile. Cannot WAIT to see yours. That sounds super cute!

  5. Oh! Sex-ay sex-ay Megan! This is a really cute top and PERFECT for showing off your tats! Great advice on the bras. I am always on the hunt for a good bra, but I have the opposite problem. I need something that gives me oomph!

  7. Oh, this looks great; I love how it shows off the tattoos! I'm exactly one size up, band and cup, on the bra front from you (34 DD) so I'm wondering if this Hanes thing might be the answer to my off-shoulder dreams. Thanks for the tip!

    1. It might work for you! You can even double them up (that's how they're advertised). I plan on trying them out under some racerback style this summer. Just remember these look to run really small, so go for an L or XL.

  9. Your tats look great!

I'm shocked that you're a 32D (I'm a 34D) - would never have guessed! I totally can't do any kind of bra except underwire. I found one beautiful (like lace and all that girly stuff) bra by Triumph and bought every single one in my size! For strapless, I make do with La Senza's multi-convertible bras. You can put the straps (clear and matching the bra) wherever you want them on the cups and the back, so you can do one shoulder, X-back and halter, as well as strapless. They also come with an extender to lower the back of the bra for backless looks. However, the smallest they come in is 36 band, so they are a little big on me. I loathe bra-shopping.

Sadly, I can't wear a bra without full support - when I lost weight, my boobs went from mondo-bodaciously huge to the size I am now...but down in the waistal region. *sigh* Sad little water-balloons. Damn, aging sucks!!

  10. Thanks for sharing the bandini recommendation. It is tough to find strapless bras that are comfortable.

    The tattoos look great!

  12. The top is both elegant and comfortable/practical, which is great!!! Wish I could wear a bandini but unfortunately it's not an option. Well, maybe around the house. :-) Your outfit is simple but the addition of the headscarf and tattoos make it very cool. XXOO

  13. A simple, but fabulous outfit. Your tattoo really adds to the ensemble. I can't tell you how much I love your tattoos. Word and quote tattoos are my favorite and your placement choice on your collar bone is so fabulous.

  14. I love this effortless chic look. And the scarf totally suits you in a different way than the shaved hair :)

    P.S. Great tattoos!

  15. The placement of your tattoos is perfect for that top! I'm pretty sure I don't have to get my new tattoo touched up and I'm so excited because that itching/healing phase is the pits!
