Five years

 Sweater - westbound, thrifted
Skirt - All Saints
Tights - Sockdreams
Boots - Natacha

Yesterday was the 5th anniversary of marriage for the DH and I. We got married as young stupid in love kids. Thankfully we've spent the past 5 years growing into the people we are today. We've both changed a lot, as many do in their 20s, but I fall back in love with him all the time. I'm grateful for his patience, encouragement, and general ability to deal with me and still say "I love you" every single day. For more than five years (and then some).

He and I have decided to put more emphasis on our actual ceremony date(3-15) versus the legal-paper date (1-18), but it's hard to pass a milestone of five years without acknowledging the most important relationship in my life.

And I'll admit, I celebrated a bit by going thrifting. Lol! Yes, even after birthday gifts galore, I found some gaping holes in my closet as I cleaned last night. I have a pitiful ratio of shirts to bottoms! So I went and grabbed a couple of new shirts and stupidly also came out with a couple more things as well. But I did get to give my other new pair of boots a spin!

An unknown to me brand - Natacha! Another stumbled upon pair on ebay, they remind me a lot of Fluevog Swordfish family with the long toes, but they also remind me of a knight's armor with the layered bits. And the best part - they're grey blue!! I have been hunting high and low for the perfect pair of grey blue boots. I found these lovelies for only $30 on ebay, and with major thanks to Ally, bought them!

Speaking of birthdays, the party hasn't stopped! I've added some more late comers to the party! So head back and check them out~!

  1. Congrats on your anniversary! That's a huge achievement. Celebrate as many days as you want. :)

Chris and I got married at the court house, so we don't celebrate our "real" wedding day. We've always celebrated the day we met. We were immediately serious after only knowing each other for a few hours. So funny because I never believed in love at first sight before then!

Another pair of really cool boots. I like your description of them. It seems like you and I have an affinity for seeing things in objects that others might not think of. They do remind me of knight boots!

  7. Congratulations, and happy anniversary to you and your husband! I place more emotional weight on the day I actually arrived from America to move in with him in London than I do on our wedding day, which was about six weeks after that, so I get where you're coming from.

    Super cool boots!

  10. Happy, happy anniversary, Megan and Jon!

I think you and I were parted at birth. I, too, visited GoodWill. I can't honestly say I need any clothes, but I'm determined to show the world that you can dress for work at GoodWill. Scored my first cashmere sweater! And a real Missoni dress! And a ala Gracey vintage dress with a pleated skirt...and...my haul is too ridiculous to contemplate.

This whole look is really soothing with the grays and blues. Those boots are de bomb. Have you ever thought about opening a boot shop? You can really pick 'em!

  11. Congratulations! You get to have two anniversaries, too.

Your outfit is so cool - I would wear every part of it, and in that same combination. The skirt and tights look so good together, the boots are amazing! And the sweater tops it all off looking very comfy and fresh. Beautiful!

  13. Congratulations to you both! Your post is beautifully written, a lovely summing up of your relationship.

It will be 5 years in May for Mr Squirrel and I too, (the magic number), what resonated the most for me in your words was that you change as time goes on, but you change together.

  19. Congrats! My boyfriend and I celebrate the night that we met (it was at a music gig and we both saved the flyer so we know the date). We were too busy this year to do anything last Wednesday, so we're going out tonight. WooHoo!

LOVE this combination of stripes, textures, and colors. Those boots are PERFECT for you.

  22. Your pointy toe boots are amazing, and the price even more so! I love the way you paired them with the striped socks/tights (?). The length and flare of the skirt also looks just right to me. Congrats on your 5 years. Wishing you much love and joy as you journey together.

  26. Hey, congrats. Mike and I have been together for about five years too...I think. Neither of us have kept track of a specific date too well, since we kind of segued into a relationship from being friends, and neither of us is too interested in getting married so we probably won't ever have a new date to work with! Fortunately we also don't care very much about anniversaries so it's a moot point anyway, other than the end of October rolling around and being like, "oh hey, it's been how many years now?"
