Star Sweater - All Saints
Jeans - thrifted, DIY'd

Star earrings - gift from Keely
So when we check the weather, they have a nifty little thing that says "Real feel" or "feels like" and tells you if the humidity is making it feel hotter or the windchill is making it colder than it actually is. I always check for that because sometimes it makes a difference. I wanted to wear a skirt today, but checking the weather I knew "Feels like 37F" = cold! Too cold for tights.
I still adore this sweater to bits, but after lots of research, I know more than I want to know about mohair. For example - it makes me ITCH, and why it makes me itch (it has to do with microns). I can wear a tank under it and that helps, but itchy! But mohair is known for taking dyes really really well. Which is why the dip dye effect on this sweater is so fab! It's also exceedingly warm for the light weight. And if you haven't guess by me talking about it two days in a row, I love light weight sweaters that are warm.
Anyway, I've been missing my pink/red hair lately. I'm thinking about redoing it in January for my birthday. Ugh I look so tired today.
I love this combination, the dyed look of the sweater looks awesome with your DIY'd jeans! I hear you on the mohair though, I tend to not wear a lot of it myself, I have trouble with being itchy too. Many wools affect me that way as well. Fortunately for me, it gets colder here sometimes to wear a long sleeved shirt underneath a sweater every now and then!
ReplyDeleteI adore that sweater to bits, too. And those perfect boots again. I want ones like those ._.

Yay for pink hair!!! And the sweater is cute, but too bad that it itches. I got so fed up with itchy sweaters that I hauled all the ones I had to my sister's thrift store recently.
ReplyDeleteI like the jeans. There are definitely some days when it is too cold for tights! Go for the pink hair again. I wish I had dyed my hair crazier colors while i was a student, since it wouldn't go over well at my job now.
ReplyDeleteDo the pink hair again! I loved it! It's amazing how perspective changes. I too looked at the "feels like" this morning and when I saw it said the equivalent of 5F I thought "oh good! Dress weather!"
ReplyDeleteYou may feel tired but I don't think you look tired. This is such a great outfit, specially the DIY pants. About weather they should say, "feels like inside my refrigerator" or "feels like a popsicle" or "feels like heaven." Why always numbers? The sweater is fantastic, light and warm, can't beat it. Feels like fabulous.
ReplyDeleteLove that sweater with your DIYs. So cool! I can't stand mohair, angora, wool...of any sort in anything. And sometimes acrylic too. I prefer cotton.:)
ReplyDeleteStars!! You look groovy, MM, but I do feel you on the itchy sweater - I have had to purge all of mine, no matter how cute : <
ReplyDeleteThanks, Patti. This is the only bad itch offender. I just can't part with it.
DeleteGreat combination of colors.
ReplyDeleteSo. Much. AWESOME in one outfit. Love it! All the colours and stars. Very funky.
ReplyDeleteYou ARE a star. Your itchy sweater reminds me that The Teen asked me to take her and her BFF to GW Boutique last weekend to buy "tacky" sweaters which apparently are the rage in high school. I found one with a house and a lake and trees and the sun on the sleeve, and The Teen's BFF pried it out of my covetous little paws and then tried it on, and discovered it is soooooo itchy. But so wondrous she bought it anyway :P
ReplyDeleteOoh, you look like a nebula, or a supernova, or something cosmological. I love all the colours. Bummer about the itch-factor. I have had to stop buying angora because it drives me INSANE.
ReplyDeleteOMG, you are so cute!! I love you from head to star....I mean toe!
ReplyDeleteOh gosh I just love those jeans and those boots. I mean, whole outfit=adorable, but those jeans are epic. I wish the weather here had a "feels like" thing because I never get it right. Of course, I'm always outside waiting for a bus so it's always cold no matter what I do. I like your earrings, too.
ReplyDeleteYou don't look tired at all dear, just Funky, Cool & Starry!! I love that sweater, how cool. And it matches perfect with those tie-dye skinny jeans. =)
ReplyDeleteHope you feel better today.
uh oh - we have a mohair couch so I guess you would have to stay standing if you came to my house ;)
ReplyDeleteI love your cool pattern mixing - and please do bring back the pink hair. I don't think you look tired, but I know when I don't feel my best I don't feel like I look my best either. Here's to a good night sleep.
oxox
the dipdye sweater comlements your DIY jeans perfectly!!! SUPER CUTE!!
ReplyDeleteMohair doesn't bother me but 100% wool unless worn over something else makes me act like I have fleas!
You look spectacular Megan. Really, the whole outfit, head to toe works seamlessly. Don't give up that gorgeous sweater, just figure a way to make it work. Sew a lining in it, wear it with a thin shirt/top, cut it into a cardigan - something. It's just too cool.
ReplyDeleteI love the head-to-toe "galaxy" effect of this outfit. Lovely!
ReplyDeleteThis outfit just kicks ass. I have nothing more to say.
ReplyDeleteI had to come all the way back to this stupendously awesome intergalactic outfit in my catching up! I can appreciate having to forgive this weater its itchiness.
ReplyDeleteI love, love, love this outfit. Every little bit of it is out of this world cool. I hear you on the itchy sweaters. I cannot tolerate anything remotely itchy. My DH teases me because the first thing I do with any piece of clothing is touch it to see how it feels. Then I look at the label to see the contents to make sure there are no hidden critter fibers. I can wear cashmere if I wear a blouse or something under it. It may be soft, but it starts a scratching frenzy with me.
ReplyDeleteOur feels like temps are usually due to wind chill. When it gets to the 40 below feels like, it is darn cold. I remember one year we had such cold temps and high winds it got down to feels like 70 below. It hurt to breathe.
