Grasshopper

 Sweater - Banana Republic, thrifted
Jacket - LOFT, thrifted
Skirt - Anthro, thrifted
Tights - Foot Traffic
Ride Boots - Cydwoq
Necklace - handmade gift from Tamera

This grey and miserable day was not going to get me down! I dressed up, got to class, went to therapy, the post office, and the bank all before closing time. I'm very excited that I got to give out Christmas cards and gifts this year, small though each may be. Some people may be getting theirs earlier than others, but hopefully all my mail gets to its destination safely.

Today's outfit was planned around this sheer sweater I thrifted. It has a similar weight to my grey one, which I already love to pieces, so I bought this one with hopes that it will be as versatile. It's got a little bit of that destroyed All Saints flair to it without actually having damage, just some lightly raw edges. I don't love the turtle neck, but it is extremely warm despite its light weight.

I paired it with my newest jacket, an odd corduroy, with elbow patches! and toggle closure (similar to this jacket I own). They're both a brown-green color that makes a perfect neutral. A little more expressive than a flat black. Add the necklace from Tamera, grasshopper side up, and I felt really put together!

I'm also excited because my socks showed up! For free shipping, Sockdreams is amazing. I ordered the koi socks, the eco fleece (in linen), and dragon socks (in black/purple). (*Note all links are provided out of love, not sponsorship). I love quality socks almost as much as I love quality shoes. Most people find shelling out high prices for socks to be too much, but I figure - I don't smoke or wear make-up, maybe I'm just passing one vice for another.

  1. Oh yeah, this is definitely my kind of outfit! You look great.

And socks are totally worth investing in; I've heard that far more blisters are caused by bad socks than bad shoes, and I believe it. I need to knit some more of them, and with winter coming on, I should probably do that soon. :)

  2. After years of buying Target socks, I definitely have started to make the switch to quality socks. Cheaper socks wear out too quickly. The pairs that you chose are really cute!

    1. That's true. My target/cheap socks don't last more than a year, while some of my oldest socks were pretty pricey boot socks I got for Christmas. I can only part with a pair if they've got a hole.

  3. I'm impressed by all you got done today - and how on top of Christmas stuff you are! I have got to get cracking on that!!

Love all the greens, such rich lush colors! And I always love a good plaid skirt!

  6. You look super cute and very steampunk without being costume-y. Jealous of your elbow patch jacket.

I remember sock dreams tweeted at me once when I bitched about something being out of stock. They have fantastic customer service!

  7. PS I have to rewrite the book, but if I end up needing another editor, which I probably will, I will certainly keep you in mind. You are very very awesome to offer.

  12. Hee hee - I love how you compare your "vice" of buying socks to smoking. Um, there's no comparison ;)

Love your warm and cozy look!

  13. The piece of art that is the necklace is framed nicely by the sheer sweater. I love your new 'sock' choices. Socks are so important as they protect the feet, and in your case, provide a whole lot of style!

  15. You know I love seeing that skirt because I was there when you bought it :) I love the sheer sweater, and can't wait to see your koi socks. I loves de koi. I have two sweaters I've meant to send you, but as your style continues to beautifully evolve, I think they are more something you'd have worn a couple of months ago. They are small because I noticed you lost weight earlier this year. One would make a fun dye project tho'. I may hold on to them, and keep an eye out for something more you now :) Actually, the other one might make very cool sleeves. Heh, maybe I'll just send them on. You highly evolved fashionistas intimidate me a bit, but I still love looking for things that might suit you guys :D

Also, I wish you could see Sasha Jane. She's my exquisitely beautiful Soul Cat - I can't tell you enough how crazy I am about her. She's actually getting pretty big on her premium kitten food, and she sticks so close to me that once in a while I step on her while getting dressed in the morning...lol.

  19. Those koi socks are kind of amazeballs. I'm very happy your vice of choice is socks and not shooting up heroin in a back ally. Socks is an addiction that's OK to indulge in.
