Escape!

Corduroy jacket - Orange Kitchen, gift from Sheila
Star Sweater - etsy
Corduroy trousers - Hollister, thrifted
Boots - Art company

After days of noshing on cajun turkey and corn pudding, the DH and I were craving something different. So we headed down to the local diner for cheeseburgers and slices of cheesecake to bring home.

We've been babysitting all the in-laws dogs, and my BIL's dogs are lab-mix overgrown-pups. They're very sweet, but not trained enough yet. They jump like crazy and managed to knock me down yesterday, so I'm bruised up. If you've been following my blog for awhile, you'll also know that I recently discovered I have a dog allergy so this holiday has been a bit rough on me.

However today's little excursion gave me an excuse to dress up in cute clothes. I've actually been wearing this jacket-pseudo dress that Sheila sent me off and on this season. She didn't like how it hung while open as a jacket, so Sheila wore it as a dress. I plan to wear it as a dress at some point, but I've been enjoying it as a quick jacket to toss on. It doesn't hang as well as some jackets, but the asymmetry appeals to me. It got cold again last night and cold weather just makes me want lots of corduroy and snuggly sweaters!

Have you done any Black Friday/weekend shopping? What good deals did you find? I ordered a few pairs of socks from Sockdreams, but otherwise I stayed home.

  2. There you are, all starry. Very cute and casual!

We don't do Black Friday as such over here, but I did find a screaming orange/shocking pink wool fair isle knit dress/tunic at TK Maxx, which I am planning on wearing with my orange skinnies on Monday. It is just SO LOUD, and I love it to bits.

  4. You know how I love stars, so the sweater is one of my favorites. You do look well put together for a casual day. We had cheeseburgers the other day that were very tasty as were the french fries!

  9. Cool jacket. Can't wait to see it as a dress.

I ventured out today. Not for Black Friday, but a few necessities and to get out of the house. I came home with quite a haul of goodies for the house and hubs.

I haven't done any "deals" shopping yet. I'm waiting for cyber Monday so I can purchase some screen print equipment that's suppose to be on sale. Hoping anyway.

  14. I am sympathetic to the dog allergy, I am allergic to cats and even with antihistamines and an inhaler, I will feel like I have a cold for a day or two after being atound cats. And I like the furry critters! :-(

Your jacket/dress looks lovely and cosy, and covers dog-related bruises well (ouch).

I have mainly finished my Christmas shopping, barring going to a local artists fair next week, but this weekend I bought thermal socks to sleep in for happy feet!

  16. You already know how I feel about your outfit since I yelled over twitter at you about that sweater, but I'll say it again- I NEED A STAR SWEATER RIGHT NOW. :-p

I would like to order from sock dreams, but I can't justify the price no matter how amazing the socks are.

  17. I love the big stars! I'm so sorry you got knocked down and about the dog allergies. I love snuggling with the kitten and the pups, and we have so much pet hair everywhere (despite a new vacuum) that I'd be sunk if I was allergic to it.

  18. I like the mint pants, and I think the jacket hangs nicely. Dogs are a lot of work!
