Sunshine Award

Dress - Karen Kane
Obi Belt - MMD
Pearl Hart Pumps - John Fluevog
Necklace - gift from Lynne

Today was super lovely. I decided a swishy dress and kicky heels was on the menu. I've also decided this is my personal obi belt. I'm keeping this one. ;) After all, it matches my pumps. I already can't get enough of this necklace. I love the stone and leather. The front of the garage is coming together, still posing with the skyjack for now!

Beth over at Bethie the Boo gifted me with the Sunshine Award and asked some questions. We're supposed to tag more people and make up more questions, but I'll just say if you need something to blog, feel free to snag these questions - you're tagged!

1. You are stranded on a deserted island with only five songs on your iPod - what five songs are you going to listen to on repeat?
I'd rather have a book and the sounds of the water. I'm not a music person. I prefer quiet. But if I had to pick something, I'd say classical, preferably violin based. Or some Gaga.

2. Have you heard of that show "The Best Thing I Ever Ate?"  What would you say if you were on that show?
I have heard of it. And my answer is probably my mom's chicken and dressing casserole or her pork cabbage rolls. My mom is an incredible cook.

3. Where is your favorite place to shop for shoes?
Ebay!

4. Is there a fictional character (say on television) whose style you admire?
Sherlock Holmes! BBC version plz. Mmm tailored suits, swishy jackets. I suppose also Irene Adler from the same series.

5. Would you rather be a pirate or a ninja?
Pirate, of course. Space pirate!

6. Have you jumped on board with the Kindle/Nook craze or do you still like a book in your hands?  Or maybe you do both?
I adore my Nook. I still love a good old paper book, but I like my Nook for being able to carry as many books as I want with me. And not taking up all of the space beneath my bed and bottom of my closet. I keep a number of out of print paperbacks that haven't been added to digital libraries, but many of my newer-published things have been backed up with digital versions. I'll soon be donating a lot of physical books. I'm happy so long as I have something to read.

7. What is your favorite magazine, if you have one?
Allure was one of my favorites in the past. Mostly because they would often have a free VS panty coupon in them. Now, all magazines are crap. I was standing at the check out line and one magazine literally said "The most beautifullest ladies". Really. Really. The cashier didn't believe me until I showed it to her.

8. Do you wear sunscreen every day like they recommend we all should?
Nope sunscreen breaks me out. It's horrible, but I don't drink or smoke, and I eat my vegetables. Maybe it's my one high risk behavior, but I'd rather not do anything to cause further breakouts.

9. What is the worst movie you've ever seen?
The Pumaman - godawful, but it was actually good for some laughs.

10. Do you have a favorite type of cookie?  What is it?  Will you bake me some?
Molasses cookies - mmm. I'm an awful baker. I'm a great cook, but I can't bake. The DH will just have to make the cookies. He's good at it.

  2. Yay fun answers!! I don't wear sunscreen for the same reason - it totally breaks me out. I mean, I slather my back and shoulders when I go to the beach, but my face? No way. I love your idea of being a space pirate!!

This dress is awesome and you should keep that belt - it's totally you! And it just is made for those shoes!!

Thanks for playing along with my questions!! :)

  3. Oh, nice use of that lovely, sour green with the very pretty grey dress!

I wish I could convince my husband to move to an e-reader. We have literally thousands of books in this house, and while I like to read, I am very tired of the clutter and dust that number of books creates. I've switched over to buying e-books and reading them on my iPhone, and outside of art books, I can't imagine I'll want to go back.

I rely on the SPF built into my moisturizer, which probably isn't strong enough, but the stand-alone stuff is hell on my skin.

    1. I can't even wear moisturizer with SPF. I use Simple brand, it's not the best ever, but it doesn't break me out like Aveeno or other SPF containing brands.

  6. Love that obi. The colors are perfect for you. I love how your shoes pick up the green color. The seams on the dress also echo the shoes and the tie pattern. You are just so cool in how you put together an outfit.

  7. I'm in love with the seaming on that dress, and with every. single. outfit. you make with your Pearl Hearts!
Wonderful Sunshine answers! Space pirate. :)

  10. Megan--I Love the dress on you. I agree with you about the music!

  11. I really love this look. That dress is lovely, the colors on that obi are wonderful and I just adore those shoes. AND SHERLOCK! We've gotten through the first two episodes of season two and I keep wanting to put off the last one because I want to savor it. :-) If I could dress as androgynous as I really wanted to, I would probably wear a lot of things similar to Watson in that show. The jacket he has with the leather shoulders *swoon*

    1. Gah! Yes, I admit I have a cream colored sweater that I keep because it's my John Watson sweater.

  12. Aw man, I was looking through your obi belts today and thought that my favourite was the one you were wearing! As for the first question - i could live with just the buffy soundtrack. I'm sure there are more than 5 songs, but I could likely narrow it down. And I'm with you on the SPF - I don't break out in acne as much as hives, but it's full body! Not attractive!

  13. This dress looks great on you Megan! And I love how perfectly your obi belt matches your shoes! Amazing! I still can't believe that you don't like music!

  15. This outfit made me jump up and try my obis on a particularly swooshy dress. Yes, success! Thanks for the inspiration.

I swear I had that exact dress in 1990. Same fit, same color. Since I am not your size, I think you found it's little sister. Classic and flattering; wish I still had mine.

  18. I love that dress too. It reminds me of a Gaultier...if I said that right. I don't know couture but you may get what I mean. I love the lines and structure on top. It's super modern.

  19. Love that belt with the dress! :)

So nice to read more about you too - I can't believe a magazine said that! I say that kind of thing all teh time I'm sure, but I don't have an editor!

  20. I always love these kind of posts and I was tagged this same award too, so I will be posting my answers some time this week.

You should definitely keep that belt. It is a perfect match for those shoes & dress, alone. ;-)

  22. Super cute! This dress looks so fun to walk around in, like you can get a lot of swish swish movement. Plus, the belt, shoes, necklace trio - just fantastic.

  23. Have you ever read 'Bitch' magazine? Or 'Bust'? I agree, magazines are crap. Sometimes I "hate" read them.

    1. Nope! But I'm also pretty homebound, I tend to get everything from the internet. I also don't have the disposible income for magazines. I'm sure there are good ones! But the average grocery store rag is full of lols. I just read OhNoTheyDidn't on livejournal. Full of all the gossip I could ever want.

  24. I thought St Trinian's when I saw your pic pop up in my reader - with the stripey ties and strapped shoes, but you are too ladylike in this to seem like a schoolgirl. I do love neon on you.
