Fishing

Fisherman Sweater - westbound, thrifted
Star necklace - thrifted
Skirt - fei, thrifted, buttons changed
Tights - Foot Traffic
Happy Free Boots - Trippen

As I said last Friday, I have a fisherman sweater addiction forming. I blame it all on BBC Sherlock's John Watson. This sweater made me feel like the cuddly Dr. all bundled up in his horrible oatmeal sweater. Although mine has a bit nicer fit and is a shade of cream to better flatter my skintone.

It's definitely cold today. I wore a coat over all this. Hope everyone along the East coast is staying safe and being prepared for the storms. We're only getting a lot of wind so far. I'm feeling a bit lighter and happy today, being able to start wearing fresh wardrobe items. I even managed to get my new peachy corduroys taken up to wear this week.

I also did some trying on this weekend and pulling the rest of my winter gear out. However some stuff didn't fit as well as I had hoped - I've got my Shop My Closet page back up if you're interested in some good deals.

And good news for everybody! Keely and I have been collaborating to bring everyone something special. Keep an eye out this Wednesday for the latest Fashion Challenge!

  2. Eeee! Fashion challenge! I'm excited, I need a jump start!

I love this sweater! If fisherman sweaters are wrong then I don't want to be right..or something like that. Seriously it's super cozy looking, I would love that! And you know I love plaid, so I love that skirt!

  3. I picked up two cable knit sweaters for you this weekend. One is wheat-colored, but really nice weight and weave by Gap. I figured you could dye it to suit :) The plaid skirt continues to be perfect for you in every way.

  4. Those colors do look great on you. True confession. I actually bid on a pair of the exact same Trippens on ebay in my size for $100 bucks and was the only bidder. yeah right. Until the last minute (literally) and then it was a feeding frenzy as 5 others when c-r-a-z-y and it went way over the top. Guess I shoulda known it was too good to be true. I know, I know I'm not supposed to be buying anything. But the happy boot is my dream shoe. I'm going to have to post this anonymously...

    1. I saw that auction (I troll ebay even when I KNOW I can't bid on anything). It may be worth looking at the international auctions if you don't already. I lose a lot of auctions because of last minute bidders and snipers, which is why I wound up saving up for these and ordering them from Gravity Pope.

  6. I'm on the lookout for more cuddly sweaters this season. That storm sounds intense, and I'm worrying about all my East Coast friends. :(

  7. Watson would be jealous! I have a very thick grey fishermans jumper that only comes out in deep winter,it is so cosy. I like tht yours have the warmth but aren't so bulky.

I'm worried about people in the path of the hurricane too.

  9. I will be trolling the thrift stores for some fisher men's sweaters myself! I have a bulky cable knit sweater I wear everyday when I get home from work. I'm pretty sure my building thinks we're poor because it's the only thing they see me wear!

  10. It's also getting pretty cold in Holland.
Is the little hurricane Sandy in your neighbourhood? or is it further away?

I want a knitt like yours.

    1. Thankfully it's a bit north of me! We're getting some wind and a lot of cold air, but I don't believe we'll see any rain.

  18. Yay, new fashion challenge! I could use one of those.

And, wow, I wish you were here to thrift with me, because there are LOADS of fishermen sweaters in the local Oxfam. Some of them are obviously handknit (I am a knitter, I can tell by the seams) and I kind of crave them, but they're a tricky proposition for me, since they can be unflattering to my figure. Yours looks lovely on you, and I love it paired with the skirt.

  22. What a pretty, pretty sweater. Love it. It looks good with that fun, plaid skirt.

Your comments about my baby made me real happy. Baby Girls are great and I am sure she will be so great to drss up, too. I am so excited.

I also just noticed I am on your blog roll. Yeaaayyy! Thanks so much. When I make some serious and professional-looking changes to my blog, I will for sure add a blogroll, too. But please, click the "follow button", on my blog, as well. I think I will have my first-ever giveaway when I reach 100 viewers.

    Thanks Megan. =)

  23. Hey Megan! I always feel bad when I fall behind in blog reading, but when I visit you to play catchup it's like an overdose of fashion fun!! Oh my, I love this outfit! And I, too, have a thing for the fisherman's sweaters!! Love that you redid the buttons on the skirt. I love doing little things like that to stuff I buy.

    xoxo
    Lynn
