Classic with a twist

Shirt - Express, thrifted
Skinny jeans - Old Navy, thrifted
Boots - Art Company

Nothing makes me feel sexier than a well-tailored menswear style shirt.

Not skirts or heels or low cut dresses. This shirt was one of those pieces I clutched all the way to the cashier with glee. I paired it as simply as I could. I tried it on with tons of different accessories and belts, but ultimately I wanted to let the shirt shine. Just a little pop of color and contrast in my boots.

Secret Squirrel reminded me of this lovely shirt hanging in my closet. Her classic, but modern English style always has me swooning.

I didn't share yesterday what I use to relax. Thursdays have become my official relax days. I usually have nothing planned but a night with Grey's Anatomy and Elementary, and possibly catching up with Castle on Hulu if I missed it on Monday. I love tv, but rarely get time to watch it these days. But I always make time for Grey's.

  1. I love this shirt! I'm so glad you let it stand on it's own because it totally DOES stand on it's own. And you are right, it is a sexy feeling to wear a good menswear shirt!

Sounds like a relaxing evening to me! I'm not as up on Grey's these days, but I used to be. We rarely watch shows the night they actually air - thank you Hulu - so we'll probably catch up on stuff that was on earlier this week tonight. Or maybe keep making our way through the Sopranos on DVD.

  3. I love when bloggers share what makes them feel their best because surprisingly, it isn't always something that people generally think of. I personally feel pretty sexy in jeans, though I hardly wear them. I love this shirt on you Megan. The stripes and cuffs are AWESOME! You look great here and though I can't wait to see how else you will style it, I like this simple style here a lot. Although the show itself is not relaxing, I find Patrick and I's Sons of Anarchy sessions very relaxing too!

  4. This shirt shows the magic of great fit - and you look fantastic in it, Megan. Love it with the simple jeans and super-cool boots. I am just now getting around to watching the BBC epi's of Sherlock, season two! -- so great.

  5. Thanks so much for the shout out (blushing)! Your shirt is fantastic, so crisp and well cut. I am definitely a shirt fan, I just need to work out different ways to wear it.

Despite being in the UK, (and seeing Benedict C filming on location at Paddington train station in London), I have never seen a Sherlock episode. As he would no doubt say, that is remiss. I will go and get the box set sharpish x

  12. it is a gorgeous shirt. I like the edging on the bottom.

I have to get over my fear of blouses like this. I always feel like I'm disguised as a waitress. Your photo proves that this doesn't have to be the case.

  18. You look fab and I like the masucilne-inspired shirt too. Express has great button-downs. I own a bunch of them so I definitely know. =) Those boots are awesome & funky.

I only watched the frist two seasons of "Grey's" and loved it. I catch it on TV every now and then. It is still good but the show has gotten repetitive. Is it season 9 this year? "Castle" is fun. And "Elementary" I have to check it out. =)
