Impulsivity

Tee - Kenneth Cole Reaction, thrifted
Jacket - Theory
Skirt - Thrifted
Socks - ??
Logic oxfords - Cydwoq

So I did two impulsive things over the weekend (okay probably a few more than that, but we'll stick with the two)... First I got a hair cut! My stylist lady - a bare two weeks before her due date was still working over the weekend. I decided to dedicate the funds to getting my hair done one more time by her. It's so hard to find someone who *gets* your hair, especially at budget places. I feel a million times better after the trim.

Second, I got some Chinese food. I always order things with lots of veggies in them. Maybe it's a placebo effect, but I always feel better after a big meal of steamed veggies and wonton soup. Also my fortune cookie even agreed that I need more shoes - seriously.

If only, little fortune cookie, if only

Aside from the little treat to myself, I decided to dig through the rest of my closet and pack away the rest of my summer things and tried on the rest of my winter wear. Mornings here are in the 50s with afternoon barely reaching 70s. Which means socks and jacket time. I alllmost wore tights but decided to freeze it out if I had to. This Southern girl really is a wimp when it comes to cold weather. Anyway the stuff that's up for grabs is now on my refreshed Shop My Closet tab if you want to check it out.

  1. That jacket is so cool! I wish my Chinese food fortune cookies would encourage me to buy shoes - usually they are just silly proverbs!

  2. LOL, I love that fortune!! And your hair looks great - how nice you were able to go to your stylist one more time, that's really sweet! I really love your skirt and jacket and darn if I'm not craving Chinese food now. I love wonton soup or egg drop soup. Yum.

I love the cold weather, but I'm bred for it, lol!!

  5. Mmmm...Chinese food is so good. The place down the street offers fake vegan meat. My favorite is sweet and sour "chicken" with a side of edamame. I think you should listen to that fortune cookie. It seems incredibly wise. :)

Cute haircut! You're right about how hard it is to find a stylist that gets you.

  7. I wish my fortune cookie had said that! Instead it said something about restraint!
Glad you treated yourself, I'm sure you deserved every bit!
Those argyle socks are great. I like how they pick up the blue of your blouse.

  8. So glad you're feeling better after a fresh haircut and nourishing meal - these things are good for the soul, and that has to be the best fortune ever! You're looking awesome as well, love the whole outfit (hooray for grey!), especially the shoes & skirt.

P.S. I got the best mail today - you are such a doll, thanks!!

  9. I used to have a stylist in NY that was super-cheap, like $18, but she'd spend like an hour cutting and styling my hair and I always ended up looking like a million bucks. Alas, nowadays I gotta fork over much bigger bucks ...

  12. Timing is everything. I'm glad you got your hair did before your stylist's water broke...lol.

Spooky on the fortune cookie fortune. But I think you got mine. You know those Frye boots I jokingly mentioned a few months back? Well they were $199 off...I only mention this here because Dear Hubby doesn't read your blog :o

That tee is the most beautiful deep, deep peri-winkley blue (at least on my computer screen); I love it with all the grays and then the pop o' th' socks.

  13. Love the gray. That skirt and jacket are bomb. *Pun intended*;0)

That's the best fortune yet. I think I'd go shoe shopping after that.

  14. Love that jacket!!

I'm glad I'm not the only one who eats Chinese food when I'm sick. For some reason if I eat plain lo mein when I'm sick I feel a lot better. (I keep it plain because I don't like most vegetables in Chinese food. Also the Lost Boys movie.) I hope you're on the mend!!

  21. Maybe shoe companies are sponsoring fortune cookies now? (oh dear I am tired and coming up with conspiracy theories!). The socks are awesome. Did they stay up ok? I hate having to keep pulling mine up.

    1. For me, ankle socks stay up alright. Knee high socks tend to slip down more.
