Dress - thrifted
Cardigan - Rugged Warehouse
Flats - Trippen Army
How could I not participate in Sheila's Dress Week of Horrors! I've actually had this look in the wings since I saw Secret Squirrel's look over the weekend. I knew it would be one of those perfect comfy outfits that could carry me through my extra long Wednesday of classes. Apparently I wasn't the only one because Lynne also did her own riff off SS's look. I also have Lynne to thank for giving me the guts to wear these shoes with black. I tend to get hung up on my neutrals, but this bitter brown looks great with black.
And since I didn't do anything very challenging with my wardrobe today - I decided to do something I've been wanting to do for awhile. I parted my hair on the opposite side. An insignificant change, but it gave me something to do with my awkward length hair that wasn't cutting it or dyeing it. Both of which I'm trying to avoid.

I love brown and blue together, and I know what you mean about getting hung up on neutrals. I'm getting over it, too!
ReplyDeleteMan, those Trippens. So cool. I grew out my bangs over the last year, and it was all I could do sometimes to not just go after them with the scissors myself. Hang in there.
Oh, hilarious - I was about to ask if you'd gotten your hair done! You're looking altogether smooth and vivid. Love those Trippens with their blue edges and your tiered dress.
ReplyDeleteI like how you parted your hair a little differently - very pretty! Sometimes it's just a little change that can make a difference!
ReplyDeleteThe color of that dress is to die for. I need some cobalt blue in my wardrobe stat! It's a fantastic shade of blue. I like the cut of this dress too. It's feminine - but not overly so.
And the up close picture of the shoes is great, I like seeing the detail!!
Me too - I mean loving the close-up of the shoes. They are so cool. Love your dress too - no horrors here! : > I am itching to do *something* with my hair.
ReplyDeleteThose shoes are incredible! Wow
ReplyDeleteI love those shoes, and the cardigan is really cute.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't have known those were brown shoes if you hadn't said so - I would have just thought, "indeterminate dark neutral."
ReplyDeleteLove the dress and the whole outfit! Thanks for linking up!
Is it just me or do the bangs swoop differently? I'll have to research! I certainly like this way!
ReplyDeleteMine definitely swoop differently when parted on a different side. I've got a 'widow's peak' or what have you that causes a fwip in the front of my hair when parted on the left. On the right it'll lay more flat, but fall in my eyes more often because I never take the time to train them over.
DeleteLove your dress. But I have a thing for layered ruffles. Love your hair too. So sleek.
ReplyDeletea big change! You would laugh but I noticed something is wrong, you know :)
ReplyDeletecardi is superb!

I love simple cotton dresses featuring layered ruffles and I own several summery ones myself. I also have a long black and white stripped cardi so I am going to book-mark this outfit and wear something like it, probably next spring or summer since now I can't. LOL I also like your hair parted.
ReplyDeleteI think I am going to participiate on this "Dress of Honors" challenge from Sheila. =)
I am loving the opposite side of your head part...are you growing out your hair?
ReplyDeleteYep! Trying to.
DeleteMan, everyone's striped cardi is better than mine! That is a wonderfully comfortable and chic look for school. Of course, the shoes look great with your outfit, because they are a neutral :D
ReplyDeleteI'm trying to grow my hair out, so I'm just going to cringe at the horrible pics :P My part goes whatever way it wants to in the a.m.
My hair parts wherever it wants to and I just go with the flow...
ReplyDeleteLove your outfit--it looks so cute and comfortable!! Those shoes are adorable!
I wondered why you looked a little different - the part! This does look so comfy and swooshy (I know, not a word) for a long day! Hope you survived!
ReplyDeleteWhy is it a week of "horrors"? You look fabulous! My hair is at an awkward length right now too. Last summer I had a super short layered bob and now all the layers are growing out. So some patches are about 6 inches shorter than the rest! I'm just trying to get the shortest layers to my collarbone, and then I'll cut it all to the same length.
ReplyDeleteInspired by Sheila's Dress Weeks, which are all done off of old horror movies! Sorry I didn't make that clear. ;P It's been a rough week.
DeleteDid your hair feel weird parted on the other side? Mine always hurts (or the scalp does, to be more accurate) when I try to part it in a different place. I guess it doesn't like being taken out of its comfort zone.
ReplyDeleteIt did/does feel weird. I used a clip to help my bangs dry and stay over to the opposite side. It feels less weird on day 2. I really have to fight to get them to stay but I like the difference.
DeleteThat looks great with blue. The blogosphere is having a striped moment! Am having a *great* deal of fun in Amsterdam ...

Those flats are just stellar - and so fun with the striped cardigan.
ReplyDeleteThose flats are bad ass Megan! I love the striped cardigan as well (and loved it on Lynne too!). I think this dress is very cute actually, not horrific at all!
ReplyDeleteLoving the striped cardi with the ruffles of the dress! You look great :)
ReplyDeleteThe shoes echo the stripes: I love that!!! You have the best shoe collection!!!! I'm inspired. What is it about this time of year and hair? I'm itching to do something, but I think I'm going to settle for a trim. Trying to resist coloring my hair, as well. I like the idea of parting it differently; it does make a difference.
