Thrifting Karma

Tee - Meghan Noland, thrifted
Necklace - gift from Lynne
Skirt - thrifted (tag cut out)
Logic flats - Cydwoq

Sorry about skipping out yesterday. Normally blogging regenerates my inspiration, but I needed to take a day off everything. I got my henna in the mail so I slathered it on yesterday and spent the evening looking like a mud monster. I could still use a trim, but my hair is looking a lot less ragged today. I'm glad that I have a technical 4-day weekend because of Labor Day. I have a lot to catch up on.

I sent the purple pants of ill-fit back to the thrift only to stumble upon this amazing midi skirt. I'm sure it would be nice to have it knee length, but I like where it hit enough not to ruin it by trying to hem it.  I did have to take it up in the waist just a hair, but it was a very simple fix. It's very very similar to the fabric of my striped All Saints skirt and has a similar vibe. It also has beautiful movement and cute button tab closures. Definitely a win.

Some people don't like midis because they can look dowdy. I shunned midis and maxis for a long time because of that. I finally decided to get over myself and wear whatever I felt good in. I feel GOOD in this skirt. Rarely do I find pieces that I know will work in my closet 100%, but this one will be a faithful go-to in any weather. Now if only I can hunt down a pair of purple pants.

  1. You DO look good in this midi skirt! It's fantastic! Great colors and great fit! I'm glad you feel good in it too, that's important.

And nothing wrong with taking a day off from everything, you've had a tough week so far! Your newly henna'd hair looks great! I hope the weekend helps you re-energize a bit!

  3. At first I thought this *was* your All-Saints skirt - it's a wonderfully similar cut. And I think the length is just perfect for said cut and drape - looks fab just as it is. Thrifting karma, for the win. : >

  4. Wow, Megan, great find!!! You are absolutely correct about leaving the length, and it is perfect with those wonderful shoes. Good for you on taking a day off - as I'm working on sorting out a blogging rhythm, those of you who post daily (or nearly so) totally amaze me!

  5. That skirt is perfect for you in every way, including the length. Besides, sometimes a gal needs a longer skirt when we get a bit lax on the constant summer leg-shaving :p

  7. I've heard that about midis too and I just don't get it. I personally love them! I think they are very ladylike and retro. This one is very pretty. Don't worry about the break. We all need one. I personally applaud it. Hope you are feeling rejuvenated and enjoy your four day weekend!

  8. You really should feel GOOD in that skirt because it really suits you. I remember back in the 80's this was the style we had to pick from for the most part so for a long time midi length was all I knew once I became an adult. I use to wear a lot of those broomstick skirts which always hit me just below the knee because I'm tall. They were longer and more flowy on other people.

I love your shoes. You seem to be a real fan for that brand. They're very interesting and I'll have to go shop for some on-line because I don't think I've ever seen them in real life.

    1. Cydwoqs are very comfy. They're pricy but if you shop around, you can often find a good deal on them. I snagged mine on sale from Pedshoes.

  9. That skirt is quite a find -- I love how the stripes are sewn at angles to give the whole thing movement. It looks great just in a still photo; I can only imagine how fabulous it looks when you're actually walking around in it.

  10. Yay for thrifting karma! I am a great believer -donate generously and good stuff will find you. What a lovely skirt. I agree with Audi, the stripes give so much movement to it. I really like the look of the skirt with brogue-like /lace-up shoes.

  13. That is a GREAT skirt! I love the little straps at the waist! Very very darling. I actually love that length. I am tall, and especially with heels I feel that midi length is great for me. You look really good in that!

  14. I can think of MANY ways to wear this skirt...and I do midis now and then. In fact, it is actually my favorite length of skirt. I believe in thrift karma--you find to the degree that you have given.

  15. I love that skirt! There are so many ways to wear it. I would pair it with some bright, obnoxious color.

  16. I can hardly wait to see all the outfits you create with this skirt. It looks like it will be a wardrobe staple. Don't you just love it when something just pops up like it was meant for just you?
Some of my maxi dresses are really more midi, but they make me feel great and like you I think we ought to go for what makes us happy. Life is just too short to not enjoy the moment (and the outfit.)

  18. I like midi lengths - they can work really well if they're the right cut (like this one), and you have the right shoes. It's all about working the proportion.

    Great score on the skirt!
