Strapless and Drawings

 Skirt-as-Top - All Saints, DIY
Jean crops - thrifted
Sandals - Eurosofft

So it's still face-of-the-sun hot here in Tennessee, so I opted to wear this jersey skirt as a top.  I liked the effect, but wasn't as comfortable as I had hoped. And because I don't have anything interesting to talk about in the sartorial sense - I'll share with you my latest project!

GiantBomb is a video game review and news site that the DH and I have been enjoying for a couple of years. Like many successful sites, it's the faces of GiantBomb that keep even this casual gamer girl interested enough to listen to 2+hour podcasts, watch video game reviews for games I would never play, and actually keep up with current gaming trends. There are few sites I'd ever want to buy membership for, but the DH and I have kept up our membership with the site since they started offering subscriber extras.

While catching up with their videos one night I decided to practice drawing and wound up doodling most of their on-camera crew. I scanned all the drawings in and created this 'wallpaper'. On the flashdrive around my neck is a copy of the file because I went today to get a poster printed to send off to the guys at Giantbomb.

Additionally, I did a couple of cartoon-style doodle of my two fav costumes the guys have worn on screen. I call them Safety Brad and Sombrero Ryan. I don't really share much of my art online any more, but I am particularly proud of these.

  1. You are incredibly talented, Megan! DIY, drawing, buttonflowers, dyeing, etc. (I have been catching up after all that time off, heh.) I sympathise with the lack of comfort, having had my own skirt issues today, but I really like this look.

Incidentally, I recently thrifted a white leather/rope All Saints belt in absolutely perfect condition that's just too small for comfort for me -- it's a small/medium, and I should have a medium/large at AS -- figuring I'd give it away if that was the case, because some thrift finds are too awesome to pass up, even if you end up giving them to somebody else. I'd be delighted to pass it on to you, if you're interested.

  2. Love the skirt as a top. I'm thinking of wearing one of my maxi skirts as a strapless dress this month, so we must be on trend or something, ha ha!

Your art continues to amaze me - you are so talented! Rock on, sister!

  5. You are incredibly multi-talented, Megan - thanks for letting us in on your other projects!

Your flash drive totally works as an accessory, and I like how the stripes, straps, and bracelets echo. Great proportions as well.

  8. I wish I could draw well enough to make posters and mail them off to people! Even though I have no connection to those boys, I still love seeing your art... I hope your blog gets to still experience your art even if the rest of the internet doesn't!

  11. I finally made it to comment. Whew! What a fun look! I love your drawings too. The Giant Bomb portraits are so cool. I've been trying to get in some creative time by learning a few new tricks on Photoshop Elements. And I will be creating some sort of photo backdrop so I can snap pics of my etsy creations easily and quickly.

  14. You have the loveliest shoulders and should do skirts as tops more often. You have quite a talent for the doodling...and might take up blogger charicatures as a sideline.
