EBEW: Monochromatic

Tank - Anthro, gift
Skirt - Edme and Esyllte
Shoes - Gianni Bini, thrifted
Buttonflower - MMD
Belt - Lauren Ralph Lauren

So as many of you probably know, it's Monochromatic day over at Everybody, Everywear. It's been awhile since I last participated in that link round up, but I actually have some great summer pieces to pull together a monochromatic look. A good reason to realize you have more than enough shoes - when you start forgetting about certain pairs. I couldn't believe how well these thrifted pumps matched this skirt. Unfortunately my monochrome attempts are usually more of a gradient, but I have attempted this style a few times. I usually prefer contrast.

As I tweeted yesterday, when your instincts are telling you that there may be gems sitting in the thrift store, you might want to listen. I scored that amazing purple dress, which upon some investigation turns up that it's the Grand Island dress from Anthropologie! Score! I also brought home a bright green silk blend sweater by Issac Mizrahi for Target and a lovely pair of brown wool crops by Zara ($2 each). I'm most thrilled about the purple dress as it is very similar to the black All Saints one I used to have.

Other Monochromatic looks.

  2. Thank you for visiting my blog! I got those prada sandals at crossroads for a crazy low price and I love them like my own child or something. Hey would you maybe want to keep in contact and follow each other?

  3. Ha! We went up at EBEW at the same time, so I saw you right away when I refreshed. Gorgeous monochromatic look -- all of them are; you've got the knack -- and the palette really works with your hair & skin tone. You look so lovely!

  6. Look at you go! I love this green/blue monochromatic look on you. Those pumps are so pretty--a real great "find". I do that all the time in my closet too. LOL I have been wanting to thrift SO BAD but I am trying to be SO GOOD since I only have a couple more weeks of misery, er, wedding planning. ;-)

I can't keep track of these themes - yours are the only ones I do!

    1. These are okay in small doses. They're a little under 3 inches, which is about the tipping point for what's comfortable. I spent most of the day at home sitting around though so I didn't wear them all day.

  18. I love today's emerald green look but I also love the oxblood ; ) one! Oh and I love finding gems at thrift stores! Today I knew that silk items were on sale at my local thrift shop so I ended up walking home with a bunch of stuff! I actually got a silk tank top the color of the outfit you are posting today, I'm sure when I wear it I will think of this post!

  19. I agree about following your instinct. I'm beginning to develop an almost-mystical grasp of thrift-store offerings, which is important 'cause of my size- and fit-issues.

  22. YaY, we chose the same colour, turqouise! :) You do it wayyyy better than me as I broke the mono rules by wearing a patterened skirt with other colours innit. :) But rules are made for breaking, right? :p
