Summer Technique

Dress - All Saints, altered, gift from Megan
Fishnet - recycled tights
Belt - Rugged Warehouse
Vintage Flats - etsy

Just like the last time I wore this dress, Firefly always inspires me to dress like a cowgirl. I love this dress, but it needs a little extra layering. However seeing as it's 104F that's kindof a challenge. These $2 fishnet tights didn't survive long as tights, but they've been quite valuable as a way of layering up for hotter weather. I still sweated straight through everything right after walking outside, but that's kind of unavoidable no matter what I wear.

In hindsight, I should have picked a brighter buttonflower because this one blends in too much with the dress. Oh well, I'll remember next time! For more buttonflower goodness go check out Beth wearing her buttonflowers. And Lynne too!

  4. I looooove the fishnets Megan! Brilliant! I really like the first outfit with them in your set of outfits there. They are so cute! Layering in the summer is really tricky. It kind of makes me look forward to fall. Just not bitter cold.

  5. Man, if I could just figure out a way to wear recycled fishnets as sleeves to the office! Maybe out dancing with my sis one night :)

I love this outfit; you look absolutely edgy and beautiful.

    1. There's not really much to it! The tights blew a toe after the first couple of wears so I snipped off the smaller netting around the feet and cut a whole large enough for my head in the crotch of the tights. I had to do just a few more snips to get the neckline to look the way I wanted, but it's just a YMMV situation. Cheap pair of tights + scissors, slip the result under a tank or dress and Viola~ fishnet sleeves!

  8. I love this plaid dress so much and it's even more fun with the fishnets! I feel you on the heat - it is so hard to stay creative when you're sweltering! You do a darn good job of it though!

  9. I love that dress, but I have to say it, the tights on the arms creep me out. It's not you, though, but a memory of a (guy) friend who wore a pair like that AS A TOP with his NAKED chest showing through (it wasn't pretty).

  13. I can't believe that fishet top are actually tights. You are creative, those sleeves look amazing. I love this dress every time you wear it. Yes the button-flower blends in but it's still nice. =)
