Long Story

Pistachio colored Blouse - Gap, thrifted
Belt - thrifted
Silk Skirt - Bandolino, gift from Lynne
Logic oxfords - Cydwoq
Bracelet - gift from Debbi

First let me say how pumped I was from your comments on Monday's post. I found a number of books I can't wait to read, and I'm excited that so many people are reading. Reading is truly my greatest passion, but it's not exactly a group activity.

Sorry for the silence over here yesterday, but I'm sure you all can envision a plain black tank and jeans. Yesterday all started with a meeting about the painting job I'm supposed to do. Except a quarter tank of gas later, I know no more than I did before about the job because no one was actually prepared despite asking me to come meet with them.

I followed that appointment up with a trip to the college. Turns out I need seven more classes instead of the expected six. Which isn't that bad, but one of my art classes doesn't count towards anything, and I've got the 4 hour science classes both semesters. So, at least one of the two semesters, I'm going to be way overbooking myself if I want to graduate this spring. I'm still shooting for it.

Sometimes you just gotta spin on a trailer
I got signed up for this semester at least, but after a trip to attempt to get my books - they're all still on order and won't be in until 2 weeks before school. I'd normally order online at this point, but I need the school-specific package for two of my classes. Which sucks.

However, today took a nicer turn because I finally get to wear this amazing skirt that Lynne sent me. Knowing I have had some issues with the blistering heat, she sent me a few cool goodies to carry me on through the end of summer. This painterly skirt felt like as air. I nearly had a couple of Marilyn moments, but I felt totally floaty.

Also I got an extra special surprise that you'll have to wait until tomorrow to see! Squee~

  1. GREAT skirt! It's a lovely color AND it looks light as air! I love your spinning picture, I'd totally do that too!

Bummer you don't know anymore about the painting job. And yikes about the classes - but the end is in sight at least right? It will all be worth it!!

  2. You can do it, it feels like how can you ever finish at the time but youll be so happy when your done. I took 5 classes a semester my last 2 years and went year round. I had this one 4 hour lab 3 times a week and it was torture at the time. Now years on I'd take it over this desk job! Poor Dave did full time 4 classes and worked 50-60 hour weeks. That I don't reccomend. He fainted giving his thesis from exhaustion.
Think one year from now ALL DONE! Yeah!

    1. Oh lawd - I'd faint just thinking too hard about it. Actually it'll be more like 8 months from now, but it still seems like forever!

      Thanks, Hillary. <3

  3. Wow, I'd swear that was a dress, and not a skirt/blouse combo! Lovely colours, they suit you very well.

Good luck on wrapping up school; those last few classes are kind of killer, because you just want to be DONE with it.

  4. I assumed that was a dress (and a beautiful one at that!)- fabulous job matching greens! Uggg, thanks for the reminder about how glad I am to be done with school... the expensive books, the unexpected extra classes... Good luck, at least there's a light at the end of the tunnel...

    1. Kudos go to Lynne! She knows my closet and style well. I'm quite ready to be done with it, but if I want to do much with my degree I'm going to have go through a lot more school - unfortunately. But at least this chunk will be done.

  6. Glad to hear you have your schooling for the year sorted out! That's got to be a load of stress. Don't worry about the textbooks, they'll come.

You look fab - what a lovely skirt! I do love a swooshy skirt!

  7. I agree with previous commenters - that does look like the most amazing dress! Wow, you and that skirt are terribly lovely and photogenic.

You and The Teen will be all science'd out after this school year. Her schedule didn't quite work out so the guidance counselor called yesterday, trying to talk her into taking Honors Physics. Yikes! And No! She already has AP Biology and Honors Anatomy.

  8. Put me in the thought-it-was-a-dress group - and a gorgeous one at that! I remember that the last slog of courses seemed the toughest - because the end is in sight - but is is in sight : >

  9. And that skirt is FABULOUS! I love the colors in it! You can totally do 7 classes before spring! I did 24 credits one semester of my senior year and then 20 credits the next. Hard, but totally doable!

  10. Oooooh! A surprise?!?!? Goody! Man oh man do you and Lynne have good taste. This skirt is a keeper--love the soft colors and cool pattern! You look great. Sorry to hear about your books and the extra class and ESPECIALLY the science! I always sucked at science. But I know that you can do it. I'm rooting for the spring graduation!

  12. I love this skirt Lynne sent you! I received the giveaway buttons today and I love them and they will be perfect for a day of my challenge. Like you, I saved up all my required science (13 hours of it) until my senior year. Turns out that one of those courses proved to be the most life-changing course of my undergraduate degree! The other, freshmen biology, was one of my two Cs in college.

  13. Oh man, I wish I had a trailer to spin on!! It looks like a lot of fun and it's a beautiful backdrop. I love your skirt from Lynne. I think your art classes should count towards every category!! Those cretins! At least you're almost done. I look forward to your surprise...

  15. Super color match. I was sure it was a dress. Art class should count, if for no other reason because it restores sanity.
