Super Stripes 2: Day 5

Top, Belt - unknown, thrifted
Skirt - Hei Hei, thrifted
Flats - Frye, ebay

The end of Stripes Week! Well, I have to say I am so thankful to everyone who joined. I've been reading all the new-to-me blogs, even when I haven't been able to comment. It's been a very inspirational week. Don't forget to email Keely at kkmkreations[at]live[dot]com with your favorite participating photo to be included in the Stripes Week round up. Also don't forget to check out the rest of Super Stripes participants!

TGIF everyone. It's been quite a crazy couple of weeks here at the MMD household. It shows no signs of slowing down either. I was thrilled to pop in a little thrifting trip on Wednesday for a little reprieve. I brought home this super cute Anthro skirt and Hubs a shirt for 99p. I waffle over my favorite color, but when it comes to wearing - this blue/grey/purple shade has got to be my favorite. I match the irises that have bloomed right near my Spot.

The skirt is a bit rumpled since I didn't have time to iron... but I added my star cut out belt and brown flats anyway and called it okay. I still can't believe I snagged these Frye flats brand new off ebay for $20. I haven't had such good ebay luck in a long time, but this has got to be the best deal I ever won.

In other news, I finally started the Hunger Games books. Like I tweeted to Ally, I'm hoping to see the movie too. I can't believe it took me so long to read this series. I guess I'm a little skeptical of the hype, and a still a bit tender hearted over the end of the Harry Potter saga. However, I'm now 2/3 through book one and will definitely find the time to finish today. Are you a Hunger Games fan? Looking forward to the movie?

  2. My son's friend was talking about Hunger Games yesterday and I had no idea what it was. My son wanted to go see it. These boys are 11. I found out what it was and that it was geared toward a much older audience and told him nooooooooooo way! But I hear that the movie is good.

Love this skirt sooo much Megan! You look super cute and way to snag a great deal on those flats!

  3. You know my style well enough by now to know I adore that skirt, wrinkle 'n all. Love its shape and color.

I devoured the Hunger Games trilogy, but also held off reading it for a long time, because it was "young adult fiction". But when one of my fave mystery writers said she was reading it and enthralled, I had to see what was up. I even suggested that my 72 year old mom read the trilogy, it's that much not just a set of books for young adults.

  4. I read the HG books about a year ago and really enjoyed them. The third book lost me a bit but overall it was a great series. I'm not going to see the movie at the theatre but I'll probably watch it when it's available on video.

Those shoes are so cute. I've never been a fan of Frye boots but some of their shoes are so cute!

    1. I love Frye's quality, but I find it nearly impossible to break them in. I'm not all that hard on my shoes. But yes, their shoe and sandal options are really adorable!

  5. Love that skirt - the color and the shape. Anthro skirts really are fantastic, IMHO. I have not read HG, but husband and I might go see it this weekend.

  6. I haven't read Hunger Games and probably won't see the movie, just wait for it on cable.
You look so darling in this stripe look. The iris in the background add a nice touch too. You know I love the star belt.

  7. I was having coffee at Starbucks in my village tonight, looking out the window, and saw a pack of excited young girls all dressed up in identical sports-type clothing, wearing athletic face-paint (black stripes under their eyes, like football players), marching down the street. I was confused until I realized they were heading straight for the movie-theater. I've heard that some audience-members are dressing up to see the movie but didn't expect to see it in person.

  9. The Hunger Games is still on my to-read list (I'll get to it someday, I swear!). I'll see the movie first and then take my time reading the books.

    Have a great weekend!

  14. Love the skirt and that belt! Bummed that we missed out on the stripes challenge this week though :(

Went and saw The Hunger Games movies yesterday and it was pretty good. I am glad I read the books first though, because the books are always better and more descriptive. It was good to see the movie and compare what I had envisioned in my head with the characters and scenery. Can't wait for the 2nd movie! Heather

  16. Love all the blues! And the skirt style is so cute. Super Stripes week was fun! I still love stripes!

No Hunger Games for me. But I'm not a reader or much of a movie buff. I'm sure I'll watch eventually. But you'll be hard-pressed to get a book in my hand.:)

  17. Love that skirt! I find it's a hard color to pair though -- I'm going to be watching to see what you do with it. So bummed that I missed stripes week. I just couldn't get it together. But I just got laid off though, so I'll be having a lot more time to blog and to read and to comment :-). I may just go ahead and do the stripes challenge anyway ...
