Creepy Crawlies

Tencel tee - horny toad, thrifted
Skirt - BB Dakota, gift from Sheila
Sandals - Van Eli, thrifted
Jacket - Theory, ebay
Earring, Ring (Frog), bandanna - via Mom
Ring (Snake) - gift from Sheila

I went for a bright outfit to match the sunny sky. I felt weird in sandals and a leather jacket, but it's hot and my classroom is cold. Don't even ask why I'm wearing a bandanna... it was that kind of morning. I had one of my presentations to do, and it is a huge weight off my mind to have it finished. I'm also thrilled to get to wear my awesome yellow skirt again. It's kind of hard to find the right weather for it. It's one of those not-too-hot, not-too-cold pieces. The sandals have finally been retired after many many wears. I cracked the soles midway through today. No more thrifted shoes.

The tee is new. I picked it up because of the color and unique handfeel. Tencel is a fairly new to me fabric. This tee is 50% tencel and 50% cotton. My only other piece is the 100% tencel All Saints dress from Ally's E-Party. It's moisture whicking, has a nice handfeel, and washed well.

The other awesome thing about the tee is the brand. It has a little tag with a funny little reptile silhouette. I decided to add in other creepy crawly accessories to make my day more fun.

I took myself out to see the Hunger Games movie last night. I got tired of trying to make plans to see it with someone else and enjoyed bawling over the whole thing by myself (I'm a crier). I thought it was a really great movie, one of the best book to movie adaptations I've seen in a long time.

I highly, highly recommend reading the book before the movie because you will miss out on some of the finer details that makes the story great. Unlike some critics I find no fault in the actor choices and story line changes. I saw logical reasons behind the tweaks, but I really admired how well they highlighted the most memorable scenes from the books. The story itself is sad, gritty, and not for younger viewers, but if you can digest the content, go see it! If you want to discuss spoiler-y details feel free to tweet me (@MeganMaeDaily) or email me.

  1. Oh, I long to wear strappy sandals! Won't be for a few more months. =(

I love the accessories so much and the bright yellow skirt. Congrats on getting your presentation finished!

  3. I have been wanting to combine yellow and gray lately. You look great it the outfit. I know what you mean about temp changes between inside and outside. We went to our local Walmart Market and it was FREEZING in there. It wasn't hot outside, just comfortable and it was a drastic change to go in there.
    Cool jewelry, especially the frog.

  4. I adore that skirt - it may be featured in my next capsule!

How cool are all your creepy-crawlies!? Salamander earrings are always a win.

  5. I almost thrifted a yellow skirt from the 70s last week. Seeing your outfit makes me wish I had been brave enough to go for it. You look both really edgy *and* ladylike. Those sandals are beautiful, so glad we got a last peek before they gave up the ghost. Now I'm longing for some really awesome lizard jewelry :)

I'm a crier, too! I bawled while reading the daggone book. I prefer laughing out loud in public to boo-hooing...lol. I also don't mind seeing movies by myself.

    1. I admit, I kind of lose myself while reading. I tend to laugh and cry aloud at books.

You should pop back by the thrift store and see if the skirt is still there.

  6. You look awesome! Love the bright skirt and edgy feel from the jacket!! And your creepy crawly jewelry is fun too! Nothing wrong with a bandana - I do that sometimes. Plus yours had stars. How can you beat that?

  7. Oh yay! I am SO excited for you to wear this skirt again! I love the combo of colors and I, for one, am loving the bandana! I also love all the "creepy" jewelry! Great look! I love it so very much! I have never heard of that fabric. Also I have not read the Hunger Games books. Boo, I know.

  9. No interest in Hunger Games, but I am glad to hear I'm not the only crier out there. I swear the whole world would be a lot better if people just let themselves cry every once and a while.

Tencel? Never heard of it. If it's moisture wicking, I should check out my work out clothes. I may pay attention to fibre content when knitting, and thrifting, but rarely when I'm in any sports store. I go simply by the symbols on the tags.

  11. I'll probably see The Hunger Games this weekend. I cry at movies all the time. A little embarassing, but I get caught up in a good story so easily. I cried non-stop for the last 30-minutes of Toy Story 3. I guess I should wear waterproof mascara when I see The Hunger Games.
