Dress over jeans

Cowl top - All Saints
Dress, Jeans - Mossimo, thrifted
Amelia Boots - Miz Mooz
Belt - Rugged Warehouse
I mentally call this my chain-mail dress. The knit is really textured and cool. It's hard to style because of the need for an extra layer, but I thought I'd try out one of the challenge days I missed last week - dress over jeans! This was actually really comfortable.

We're getting a little taste of winter right now, which makes me glad because I barely got any wear out of my sweaters. I've been trying to be productive today, but it's mostly turned into reading Sherlock-centric tumblrs and sleeping. Ah well, I do plan on making "manwiches" tonight. I have some fancy onion rye rolls to eat them on! What are you eating today?

  1. Ooooh, super cute! I like the dress with jeans.

You don't want to know what I'm eating. I eat boring vegetarian stuff. :)

  2. I eat boring veg. stuff too (although it's bean burrito bowl for dinner, yes!) but I love the name "manwich". Love your dress-over-jeans too, and I love anything Sherlock, esp. Benedict Cumberbatch : >

    1. Oh yes! Cumberbatch and Freeman are going to make my movie and television watching for the next two years. ♥ Very happy to see them both showing up in lots of movies.

  3. Yuuuuuuuuuum. I love me a good ole sloppy joe! In fact, we might be having them tonight as well! Great dress too! I love the pretty color and that great knit! Get all the rest that you can--you need it or your immune system will go haywire. Take care of yourself!

  4. Such a cute look! Hee, you could totally do a Monty Python or Army of Darkness Hallowe'en costume with that dress - perfect for chain mail! Or Joan of Arc - you'd make a great Joan.

Always nice to see "our" boots. :)

I'm currently eating a spinach and lettuce salad with Thai dressing, a turkey sammy with sprouts on whole wheat and a butterscotch pudding. It's a late lunch (2:44 pm).

Tonight we're having leftover Super Bowl chili and grilled open-face tuna/asiago cheese sandwiches. I'll probably have a giant bowl of popcorn later on as well.

    1. Both of those meals sound delicious! Especially the sandwiches.

Also I love Joan of Arc! She was always my hero growing up.

  5. So cute! Sometimes being productive is overrated. I just finished off a bowl of easy mac. Not my favorite but it fills my belly in a pinch. Now I'm going to sleep this headache off.:)

  6. That dress does look a little like chain mail, and it looks nice with the blue.

  7. We had manwiches on Monday.
Your dress is really cute and does have a chain mail vibe. Love the deeper blue by your face. It looks beautiful on you.
It is a bit cooler here today as well. I actually had on a sweater today. Lately it has been too warm for heavy things.

  8. I am loving long sweaters over jeans, it's one of my favorite looks as of late!

And what I am eating? Most likely a hot dog for dinner because it easy.

  9. The texture on the dress is awesome and I love how the cowl mirrors the dark denim. I'm currently eating brussel sprouts with garlic and bacon... I made the mistake of eating a bunch of plantain chips as a snack when I got home from work and now I'm not hungry for a real dinner and will spend the evening grazing.

    1. I spend the day grazing far more often than I should. But hello! I will totally be making some brussel sprouts with garlic and bacon. That sounds so delicious. I bet it would make an awesome pairing with a light sandwich for an easy lunch or light dinner.

  10. This is a great dress over pants look! The dress is really cool with the waffle knit look and I like how you wore the cowl neck top under. We had sloppy joes for dinner tonight. I felt like a kid, because I haven't ate those forever! Heather

  11. Mmm onion rye eh? I just ate some fresh bread my man made in the bread machine covered in becel- my fave snack! This is one of my favourite looks on you- I love the simplicity and the colours complement each other so well!

  12. Cool layering here!

I have been debating cutting some thick bangs like yours. Do they bug you at all?

  13. Mmm, Manwich! My mom used to make that all the time when I was a kid, with Kraft mac & cheese as the side. For whatever reason my husband does not care for Manwich so we never have it.

Love this outfit today - the proportions are exactly right! And I too love how the cowl looks over the neckline of the tunic.
