TGIF

Sheer blouse - LOFT, altered, thrifted
Sweater - Etoile, thrifted
Trousers - The Limited, thrifted
Shoes - Fly London
Piano Leather Tie - vintage via Mom

I remember hearing the TGIF joke from my grandmother at an age where sharing a joke with swearing in it was probably inappropriate. Because of that, hearing "TGIF" still makes me chuckle. If you haven't heard the joke, here ya go:

A business man got on an elevator. When he entered, there was a blonde already inside who greeted him with a bright, "T-G-I-F!"
He smiled at her and replied, "S-H-I-T."
She looked puzzled and repeated, "T-G-I-F," more slowly.
He again answered, "S-H-I-T."
The blonde was trying to keep it friendly, so she smiled her biggest smile, and said as sweetly as possibly, "T-G-I-F."
The man smiled back to her and once again, "S-H-I-T."
The exasperated blonde finally decided to explain."T-G-I-F' means 'Thank Goodness It's Friday.' Get it, duuhhh?"
The man answered, ''Sorry, Honey, It's Thursday."
Thankfully it's Friday for real. It's been an insanely busy first full week back to school. I've been woefully behind in my commenting, but I've kept up with reading my blogroll. I'm hoping by the end of next week, I'll have this new schedule down pat.

This outfit was pretty much a direct rip off of Bethie the Boo. Red and grey has been a major obsession of mine for the winter months, so this outfit came together so easily. The trousers were a 99 cent find. I love Limited pants because they are cut perfectly, and it seems like whoever owned them before me had them hemmed - so I didn't have to! The leather tie felt like the perfect thing to tie it all together.

  3. Aww, thanks for the love my dear, I'm flattered that you modeled a look after me!! And your take is really lovely - um, piano tie? Hello awesome!! That is the coolest thing ever! I have two very good friends who play piano and would love something like that. The pants are an awesome find and do look like they were tailored just for you! Very nice! Loving those red shoes too.

Thanks for the suggestion on my boots too - I'm going to see if I can find some insoles, I bet that would help a ton! :)

    1. Thanks! Some of the coolest stuff I own was inherited (aka "borrowed") from my mom. She's got the coolest stuff she's collected and doesn't wear. I've only worn the tie once before, but I'm constantly trying to find new ways to wear it.

  4. I love this! The colors are balanced so perfectly. It's an outfit takes your eyes all the way around again and again. I'd be looking in the mirror all day if I was you. It's just so cute!

LOVE your joke! I'm going to have to keep it in my memory bank.

  5. Hee hee! Your grandma's a funny lady. I don't swear in real life, but I swear on my blog occasionally (and I think swears a lot!). Apparently, I'm too nice of a person to swear because when I have, people just laugh at me.

I think red looks amazing on everyone. Your shoes and sweater coordinate so well with your hair. I like pairing bright colors with gray too because it's not as harsh as black.

Anyhoo, TGIF! Have a great weekend. :)

  6. I love red and gray as well, especially in the winter time. The tie (leather????? SWEET!) is so freaking cool as well and the trousers were a steal for 99 cents. Loved your joke! Too cute! Enjoy your weekend Megan!

  7. Ugh, I'm with you! What a week! Three hour client meetings, losing an account worth tens of thousands of dollars, being accused of being a spy... TGIF indeed! Next week I'm hoping to get back to commenting, too! Happy weekend to you!

  8. This is one of my favorite outfits so far. It looks so, so cool. I just love it all, every last bit, but especially the tie. How cool! It almost looked like trim on the sweater at first.
Those trousers are the best on you.
