Welcome to Layer Up Week! This is a Fashion Challenge created by Keely and I so we can remix our wardrobes and get the fullest inspiration from our clothes. If you're new to FC or want to play along, click the badge in my sidebar to take you to the master post. In the master post you'll also be able to see and visit all the participants of the particular challenge. Also in my sidebar, you'll find our past challenges.

This week is definitely going to be a challenge for me because the weather is calling for mid to high 60s by midweek. But I will do my best to incorporate the challenges without overheating. Today I layered my tops and my necklaces. This outfit was actually worn on Sunday. It was something comfortable and easy to wear.

I also got a (really awful) haircut over the weekend. I went in for a trim and it came out very butchered. I asked for my bangs to be trimmed "below my brows" and half of them were well above and the other half well below. Thankfully I know enough about cutting hair to fix it myself, but it really ticked me off that she didn't listen to a single thing I said. She pretty much gave me the same cut as the girl she had just finished (which I specifically said "I want X, not Y"). I wish I could find a single consistent stylist I can afford.

  1. I hear you on the weather not cooperating - it's cooler here but will be in the upper 30's and 40's this week, not exactly frigid, lol.

I love your bright green top, it is super cheery and fun!

Bummer about the haircut - I go for the "cost saving" cheaper hair place so it's never the same person and it's sometimes is a crap shoot as to how it'll turn out. I have a couple of pictures I always bring and it helps a little!

    1. I use the cost saving places too. I pay $3 more in my mom's town because I've gotten better results and they (usually) have a smaller consistent staff, but I guess I just got the one new girl who was very hurried.

Ah well, it'll grow. Like my last post on hair, it will grow back! I'll just play with the short bangs for awhile.

  2. I love that green sweater layered over your tee - it really makes the look so cool. And your hair looks great from here, so good rescue operation!

  3. Aww it sucks about the crappy hairstylist!!! I hate it when that happens. Your hair looks good though :)

And I love your lime sweater - it looks bright and spring ready :)

  4. Argh! That is so frustrating!!!! At any rate, you look great. I am going to participate this week and picked out all my outfits this weekend, but got too excited about my new skirt to wear anything but the outfit I had in my mind for it today. :-( Sorry! But I will be in on all the rest of the week! Love your layering here and I hope you feel better about your hair soon!

  5. Well that's interesting, because I was just going to say that your hair looks beautiful! But to each his (or her!) own. I do think you look great. I love those wide jeans on you too!

  7. Ugh, there's nothing worse than hating your hair! At least it will grow. Personally, I think it's really cute! I love that bright sweater. And how you paired it with the stripes!

  9. Yes, finding a good and affordable stylist sometimes can be difficult. I like the new bangs! And luckily hair grows ;)

I love the color of your vest. And I am having fun with the challenge already, although I will probably interpret some days differently...

  10. My stylist got a bit wild right at the end of the cut and I ended up with 2 layers of bangs. I need to go back and see if she can fix them. It looks weird. I have been trying to grow my hair out and it has been a long process.
You look gorgeous in the bright green.

  11. I've been going to the same hair stylist for...I think...20 years. I don't know what I'd do without him!

  12. Going to the hair salon stresses me out (I've never ended up with the colour or cut that I want) so I've given up and haven't had a cut or colour in almost a year! I think the shorter bangs really suit you- not many people can pull off that look but you look funky! I love the lime green and what a great pair of jeans!

  13. I like the bright green, and I don't think that you bangs look bad, but I can definitely understand the stress of not getting the style that you wanted.

  14. Cute layered look! I love the bold stripes of that top. Our weather is also unseasonably warm. Strange.

I love that you re-introduced the Fashion Challenge. I usually write like people know what I'm talking about and that is just not true. 50% of my traffic is new, so I need to remember that.

When I clicked on your post and saw the pic I thought, "How cute! She got bangs again." And even you have a really great stylist they can still make that bang mistake. Last time I went in my bangs were quite a bit shorter than I anticipated. You're right, they will grow.:)

  15. Ugh, that's awful that she didn't listen to you!

I love this sweater over the stripey top - so cute.

  16. Ooh I love that bright green sweater layered over stripes! Amazing. :)

Sorry about your haircut. :( I despise when hairstylists give you the hair they want you to have and not the hair you asked for!

  18. this is a fantastic look...love the layering of the two pieces and the peek of stripes. it really is hard to find a great, consistent stylist. i've had to do my share of fixes after an expensive haircut :)

  19. I love the color of that vest...so much fun! I just lost my stylist of three years because she moved back to Minnesota, and I am terrified to start looking again. There are just so many bad ones out there :(

Whatever fixes you made seem to have worked though, because I think it looks cute!
