Refreshed

Dress - Hypnotik, thrifted
Belt - thrifted
Necklace, bracelets, socks - gifts (christmas, Sarina, Mom)
Pumps - Fluevog Pearl Heart Bellevues
It's amazing how a night of sleep and a good meal can completely revamp how you're feeling. I'm feeling so refreshed today. Even my hair is behaving! I made beef fried rice for lunch.

Mom gave me these socks during our St.Patty's day celebration. She often surprises me with small gifts when I visit, but socks are by far my favorite. She also got me the same pair above in purple/black, but I haven't styled them for the blog. The green ones matched my fluevogs too perfect.

I'm super excited for this weekend to hurry up. Saturday is Super 50% off Saturday at Goodwill, and then that evening I'll be browsing Nashville art galleries with friends.

Burnout

 Top - thrifted
Cardigan - Banana Republic, thrifted
Belt - Rugged Warehouse
Silk Skirt - vintage thrifted
Pumps - Fluevog

I've worn every piece here on the blog before. I do like the end result, but I'm not really thrilled with any of my outfits right now. Weather burnout. This is probably outfit version 6.0 or something. I don't want to go back to jeans/trousers every day because it's gone rainy and chilly. So tights and cardigans it is. I'm crazy in love with this shirt. It's got a metallic reptile print all over it.

I tried 'fixing' my bangs last night. I'm afraid it didn't help much. My hair is just going to go wacky wavy on me.

I'm also going to a number of Art Galleries this week. Any advice on what to wear?

Never say Never

 Top - New Directions, thrifted
Skirt - Kohls
Pumps - Vintage Pineapple Mint giveaway

Never is the next new thing. Or something like that. I came across this shirt which contains the following: Animal Print (zebra), Tribal overlay, Floral overlay,  Brown and Black (hard to see the brown but I promise it's there), and poof crazy sleeves. This was one of those "try it on to be silly, but I really love it" things. In fact, I thrifted - not one, but two!~ floral based tops on this trip. The other one will make an appearance later this summer.

Hey I even managed to get in another dose of stripes today.

Have you ever bought something you promised you'd never wear (or wear again)?

OhNoes, More Stripes

Cardigan - Rugged Warehouse
Top - Como Petites, thrifted
Jeans - London Jean, thrifted
Shoes - Eject
I promised myself I wouldn't "have" to wear stripes and could wear anything I wanted once stripes week was over. I couldn't help but take some inspiration from the participants last week. This look was inspired by Lorena of Lorena's Everyday Wear. My stripes are black instead of red, but I thrifted this ruffled blouse awhile back and hadn't figured out a good way to style it since it's very gauzy and sleeveless. Don't let that sun fool you, it's still nippy out.

Also I ask that you please ignore the bad hair days that are to come. Growing out a short 'do isn't the most fun or fashionable task.

(Today's "blogger pose" is totally a rip off of the lovely Christine of FutureLint. I always think of her when I wear these wide legged jeans)

Super Stripes Week: Day 4

 Tee - Target
Belt - Betsey Johnson
Trousers - Old Navy, thrifted
Pumps - Fly London
Brr! It poured and poured last night and our nice warm weather is gone. I guess that only this sort of week means I get to wear sleeveless followed by wool trousers. What a treat though to be able to wear these. One of the many lovely participants reminded me that yes plaid is made up of stripes too! So I revamped my planned outfits to include these snuggly warm trousers. The colors are at little expected though. I'll have to change that up tomorrow.

Super Stripes Week: Day 3

Top - 4ever young
Silk Skirt - vintage thrifted
Pumps - Attention Paris Fluevog
Boots - Fly London
Day 3! Stripes are everywhere. I've had to switch things up again and again to suit the weather. I wanted to wear my new sky high heels, but the minute I walked outside it started a downpour. So I went and slipped into my grey boots for class this evening. Also in a minor response to a post I saw about sizes, numbers, and perceptions - when I bought this top, it was labeled a Large. I laughed out loud when I saw the tag. It's just a tag.

This outfit is a revamp of a previous one. I much prefer it with the skirt. I'm not red legged today - but red bottomed. Check out more red leggy ensembles in Wendy B's round up.

Don't forget to check out all the participants of Super Stripes Week. We're up to 23!

Super Stripes Week: Day 2

Dress - All Saints
Skirt, Belt - thrifted
Wedges - Lela Rose for Payless

Today's Alternative Title: Watermelon Twist! I love pink and green together. This is technically two dresses layered together. You can see the pink one here, and the green one here. Ironically, both worn with the same cardi, boots and belt. So what better choice than to pair them together. The pink dress is now back to full price on the All Saints site. I can't believe I managed to snag it in my size on clearance.

I also had to thrown on my super high wedge sandals today. The weather is going to change midweek and go back to chilly 50s. The kiss of summer was just enough promise for me though. I'm really looking forward to sleeveless tops and bare legs again.

As a bonus stripe today, I thought I'd include a goofy striped kitty, Spike, who throughly enjoys a good patch of sunshine. Look at those stripes! Even across his tummy.

Be sure to check out all the participants of Super Stripes Week.

Super Stripes Week: Day 1

Top - BCX, thrifted
Skirt - H&M, thrifted
Pumps - Attention Paris Fluevog
Headband - DIY project

Woo! Time to kick off Stripes Week! And what better way than having some Fluevogs show up in my mail box. I got a ton of great recs on curvy pumps. I settled on hunting down a pair of Attention Paris pumps, expecting to wait around on ebay for them. But it turned out endless had pumps on sale with a code, bringing these well below my self-imposed "Not going to spend $200 on black pumps". The best part? There's a hidden platform allowing my knees to handle that tall curvy heel. I'm forever amazed at the construction of Fluevogs.

The top I found while puttering around Goodwill trying to kill some time. It was a great match for the headband and belt I covered. And since this is a challenge, I decided to do some pattern mixing to kick things off. Be sure to check out all the participants of Super Stripes Week. Feel free to join in late - Just drop a comment on the main post letting me know.

Edited to add: I'm sorry for those of you with snow still on the ground, or even falling from the sky. I'm experiencing 80+F weather today!

Sweltering

 Shirt - NY&Co
Skinnies - Fire Brand, swap
Boots - 8R Harness Frye
Bracelet - gift
I do believe I'm havin' the vapors! Is that sleeveless? Hells yes. It's nearly in the 80s today. I feel like I'm melting already. I had to take a quick jaunt to the store. D wasn't allowed to drive because of his pain meds - so I took a stab at driving! I'm pleased to announce we all made it safely to the stores and back.

This was not my favorite look - I wasn't really in the mood to get dressed. But I think it actually came together pretty nicely. I feel like it looks better in photos than I felt in it. My hair is also getting very face-eating. The joys of growing out a short 'do. Happy Friday, Everyone!

Happy St.Patrick's Day

Dress - Hypnotik, thrifted
Harness - Audra Jean
Pumps - Vintage Pineapple Mint giveaway
Earrings - gift

Happy St.Patrick's Day! As a (fake) redheaded Irish girl, I'd be remiss not to don my green clothing today. My mom and I usually celebrate with a traditional Irish meal (even though it's Dad's side that's Irish). We've postponed until Sunday because she's back to work and I'm still caring for D. Edited to add: Like all holidays, my family just uses St.Patty's Day as another excuse to get together and eat food. Lol! No drinking, partying or anything else really.

I thrifted this green dress on Super Saturday Sale at the beginning of the month. It's wonderfully shapeless without the harness, but it's also like wearing soft comfy pajamas.

Also today's outfit brings up an Issue. I adore these pumps I won in a giveaway. They're shapely, have a stacked heel - and are brown. Which if you've watched my blog for any length of time, browns are not my favorite color. I mentioned in a previous post that I'm still on the look out for a great black pump. I wish I could find the same style as above. I've combed etsy til my eyes have crossed for a Black, 6.5 size Baby doll pump - even collected four treasuries worth of links - to no avail. Googling for baby doll pumps has not turned up any good results either. So I need advice on good brands that have shapely black pumps with a sturdy heel!

Nurse Lady

Tee - Theme, thrifted
Jeans - NY&Co Curvy Boho, thrifted
 Belt -thrifted
Socks - target, gift
Flats - United Nude

D had some big dental work done yesterday so I'm home playing nurse lady. He's doing surprisingly well. I wish I healed like him. This does mean we're home bound while he heals up, but I still wanted to get dressed today. These are my uber comfy jeans and a loose tee. My United Nude flats (house shoes lol) and a belt to make things not boring.

The weather is FINALLY turning nice. Today is only in the 60s but this weekend is projected to hover in the 70s. Weatherweatherweather, I know. But I am so excited to be able to pull out all my new spring and summer clothes!

See my striped socks? Do you have stripes in your closet? Think about joining Super Stripes Week, even if you just want to join for a day!

Presenting

Tee - Old Navy
Skirt - Ann Taylor, thrifted
Vest - Fresh Brewed, thrifted
Tights - Target
Boots - Gianni Bini, gift

Group presentation day! I've spent the last month working on a presentation, and finally! got to do it today. We (five) all dressed in black and white and slicked back hair. I realized I don't have much white so I took a thrifted black skirt and black tee to give the effect of a shift dress and added my houndstooth swing vest for my pop of white. Everything went off smoothly and hopefully we did well.

I wasn't as pleased with the choice of boots today, but I haven't really gone after a new pair of black pumps since my Nine West pair wore out. I've been living in boots or my oxfords. Maybe I'll find something, but I'm also trying to go a month without buying shoes! Haha.

Sailor denim

Tee - Target
Necklace - gift
Jeans - Younique, thrifted
Boots - Gianni Bini, gift

In a little teaser for next week's Super Stripes Week, I've started pulling out my striped pieces! Be sure to check it out. Even if you can only participate for a day or two, feel free to grab the badge and join in.

These are one of the two pairs of jeans I picked up when I went thrifting. I grabbed them off the rack and giggled because they looked so crazy. But after trying them on, I knew I had to give them a chance. They're like a pants version of my sailor skirt! I figured even if I only wore them once or twice, they would more than be worth the PPW.

Also joining my regular picture taking spot - my new bike! Well, my bike in a box - lol. It was pouring rain today so we're waiting to put it together until later this week.

Springy Sunday

 Tee - the limited, thrifted
Skirt - Victoria Secret, thrifted
Trench - Kristen Davis
Snakeskin Belt - thrifted
Pearl Hart Pumps - Fluevog
Feeling rebellious I tossed on a spring outfit. It was a bit chilly and I had to change half way through the day into jeans and boots (Going to get my bike, guys!), but this dose of color did me good. Is it spring yet? Finally I get to show off my altered trench! The sleeves used to hit at an odd 3/4 length and it made me feel too covered up. This is a really light weight jacket leaving me little weather-appropriate opportunity to wear it, but hopefully I can pull it out a little bit in early summer too.

I forgot to update about it, but my mom was released from the hospital last Friday. She's home and doing good. Already heading back to work, too. I'm hopefully going to go celebrate St. Patty's Day with her this Thursday. Thanks again for all your thoughts and prayers. I really appreciate it.

In which I babble about Denim

 Snake necklace - DIY project
Silk blouse - The Limited, thrifted
Trouser Jeans - Banana Republic, thrifted
Shoes - Eject

Today was glorious and lovely! 70F, sunny and the perfect day to hit the thrift store. Haha! I went "shopping" Thursday with my BFF to try and find a perfect pair of dark wash skinny jeans (something the thrift store lacks). I couldn't bring myself to drop $50 on that perfect pair - afterall I spend around that much for bags of stuff while thrifting.

I decided to hit the denim racks at Goodwill with an open mind. My weight has fluctuated a bit over the winter and many of my favorite jeans no longer fit comfortably, including the latest pair I got from Keely!! Nooo! Dresses and skirts are wonderfully forgiving, but I am an equal-opportunity trouser wearer and need my pants. I actually came out today with my absolute favorite fit pair of jeans [Curvy Boho by NY&Co for those interested] that I had back in 2009 - only one size bigger! Huge score there.

In hindsight, I'm not sure I love these trouser jeans. I thought they'd make a good replacement trouser jean for the ones that were too small, but these seem to have a similar issue of a tight waist band and wrinkle if you look at them too hard. I wonder if it's just a commonality of the trouser jean cut.

If you made it through all that - Kudos! Tell me about your favorite jeans.

Back N Back

Click to embiggen

D and I headed off to a lovely little place. We were treated to so much good food and service and relaxation. I blasted back today full force. We ate so much fresh food, played scrabble in front of a fire, took a million pictures, even managed to catch a break in the rain to explore some outside. We enjoyed the rest most of all. But I'm more than happy to be back home and back to my daily stuff.

I am Outta Here!

Top - Citrine, thrifted
Blazer - LOFT, thrifted
Jeans - London Jean, thrifted
Shoes - Eject, ebay
I'm out of town, out of comission, out of computer ranged surface until Thursday. As least as far as, blogging goes. D and I are heading out for our little yearly trip away together, and will be back with some lovely photos to tell about our trip.

In other news, my mom was moved to a different hospital upon being moved out of the ICU. She's supposed to be released soon. Specifically how soon, I don't know, but she's definitely on the move again. Thank you all for thinking of us during this time.

Hope you all are enjoying your week so far and have a fabulous time. Can't wait to come back and catch up on all the polka dotted outfits.

Spring Break 2011

Tee - Faded Glory
Cardigan - Rugged Warehouse
Star Trek Pin - ThinkGeek, gift
Trousers - Gap, thrifted
 Flats - United Nude*

Spring Break starts today.. and apparently so goes the weather. I woke up today thinking of bicycles. I want to take a motorcycle/scooter course at some point - but with gas prices projected to skyrocket, a bike may be back on the menu. Might also be good for the exercise too. Anyone else bike instead of driving, public transport or walking?

I also had no clue what to wear today. I was getting pumped up getting away with light jackets and short sleeves. It's cold even in the house today. I've technically worn this combo before, but I updated it with black trousers and funky flats. I also added my Trek pin to hold the cardigan closed. I wished the tabs were real buttons.

I picked these up around the end of the year last year to replace my ratty Vans as "house shoes". I need hard soled house-shoes because I frequently end up 'just running outside' and destroying soft ones. These sci-fi croc-material flats have been perfect, I noticed they nearly matched my tee today so I left them on for outfit photos instead of my default black shoes.

*I'm receiving no compensation for this amazon link - but I'm linking in case anyone wants detail shots.

Plaid Pants

Sweater - Express
Pants - Gap, thrifted
Shoes - Eject

I thrifted these pants yesterday for $2! They're a wool plaid trouser. How could I pass them up? They're like a pants version of my coat. I actually found these about a week ago and decided to pass them up because they were a half size too big. I washed them in the washer and they shrank a bit. I can always pull the waist band in just a tiny bit if they expand again with wear.

It's a good thing I didn't put away the winter clothes just yet. It's a quite chilly 45 today.

No new news on my mom. I'm taking this as good news, as her being stable. Once again, thanks for all the good thoughts and prayers.

Warrior Friday

Tee - Old Navy
Cuff - vintage via Mom
Leather skirt - thrifted (possible vintage?)
Boots - Eject
Thank you everyone for your prayers and well wishes. I still haven't heard much about my mom other than she's stable, okay, supposed to be out of Intensive Care and into a room.

freshly henna'd
I spent last night trying to relax, did a henna treatment (I missed my red too much), and got ready for D&D today. Had some good fun taking my mind off things for a little while.

I thrifted this leather skirt this month. It's wonderfully broken in, super soft leather. It went to replace my previous black leather skirt that I grew out of and donated awhile back. I actually think this is better leather, the fit is more comfortable and it's a more subtle piece since it's not patent. Now if only I could find a pair of leather pants.

I really didn't think I'd get so much wear out of these boots, but I'm reaaaally going to miss them during the hot weather.

Hello, Armor, My Old Friend.

Necklaces - gifts
Tee - Old Navy
Cuff - vintage via my Mom
Jeans - Mossiomo, swap
Boots - Frye

Today I feel small and angry. As though my Frye boots are the only thing keeping me grounded. My mom was admitted to the hospital yesterday. I don't want to talk details, but as far as I've heard from my family, she's okay. I am blogging from home because I cannot handle being in a hospital. A panic attack will not help my mother.

If you're the type, send her good thoughts and prayers. She needs them more than I do.

Busiest Day of the Week

Top - NY&Co, thrifted
Pants - Victoria Secret, thrifted
Boots - Miz Mooz
Bracelet - liberated from my mom
Necklace - originally Urban Outfitters, Rugged Warehouse

Wednesdays are notoriously busy days for D and I. As such, it makes it nearly impossible to hit my 99p days at Goodwill lately. I still manage about once a month, but D usually works all (retail) day Sunday and we've both got a full day of class, work and/or playing catch up on Wednesday. BUT! I had a return to take to Goodwill, a shirt that did not fit D. And omg!! The thing I found today.

My first run through the store found a pair of wool trousers (too big, alas!), a linen chartreuse skirt (too small), a blue silk tunic (too shapeless) and OMG  Christian Dior camisole!! I sadly returned everything to the racks, except the cami. It is too big, but camis are an easy fix - unlike pants that are too big all over. My second round lotted me a retro cotton top and two skirts (one leather, one denim).. Big score!

I could be talking about today's outfit, but really why not talk about how I can totally wear my Fossil sunnies again! Now I've got contacts, I stole back my sunglasses from my mom who I let borrow them a year ago. I purchased these back before The Flood of Nashville 2010 destroyed Opry Mills mall. The Fossil store is a favorite place to ooh and ahh over tasty accessories, right along with Wilson's Leather. Another thing I grabbed from my mom (who never wears her oodles of jewelry) is this bracelet, it has a small charm that identically matches my big Strawberry necklace! Sorry I forgot to get detail pics.

Also red pants are the coolest, right?

Leopard Lovers!

 "Leopard" Dress - ICI, thrifted
Blazer - Sisley, thrifted
Amelia Boots - Miz Mooz

Sheila is gettin' her leopard on this week. While I normally shun animal prints and florals (see: yesterday's post), but I had to style my one mammal print for her leopard lover's week! Check out all the participants in her round up post. Don't forget to pop in over at Wendy B's for her infamous leopard dress.

I thrifted this linen blend blazer just recently - and how it came in handy! It fit like such a dream, even though I have little reason to be "office appropriate", the body hugging tailoring made me squee. A wandering woman even complimented the fit, so I knew it was meant to be.

My little 90s tank dress is probably closer to ocelot due to the solid spots than leopard, but I figured Sheila would let it fly. To see my other two remixes of this dress check out here and here. I had to use a timer today! D wasn't home, boo!

Also adding to the link-a-palooza today. I've been featured again in Kimberly's March Inspiration Calendar! Check it for Tuesday, 3/15 and all the other fabulous blogger looks!
