Go with the Lull

Top - La Belle, thrifted
Sweater - NY&Co, gift
Jeans - Joe's Jeans, thrifted
Hepat Boots - Tsubo

Like most people, I'm feeling the lull of the holidays. The New Year is on its way and soon after my birthday. I'm attempting to make plans, but it's always hard to do in the wake of the holidays. I'm eternally jealous of those with summer birthdays for their possibilities when it comes to celebrating. Instead of pushing it too much, too fast this year and winding up disappointed, I'm trying to go along with the ups and downs.

D and I have rented Lego: Pirates of the Caribbean and purchased You Don't Know Jack outright. I've got a long list of reading to catch up on, and Season 3 of Castle to watch. In addition to a lack of scheduled stuff, we've overstuffed on delicious, meaty, carb-laden Christmas foods. So today we headed out to the store and picked up a bunch of fresh veggies to have a veg night in.

This was my outfit for the jaunt to the store. I have been meaning to try these Hepat boots out in a different way. Since I've had the pirate-y influence lately, I scrunched them down and folded over the top. I'm not sure it's my favorite look, but I like the possibility.

What are you doing in the wake of the holidays?

  2. Oh I love piratey looks. That top is just amazing. It makes your hair stand out beautifully.
I am having a hard time getting enthused over outfits here lately. I have been snoozing and just relaxing this week. I am sure school will start up again soon for you. Enjoy your time off.

  3. Ooh those are great boots! Love the pirate-y vibe. Glad you are enjoying your time off. I have a March birthday, so I know what you mean about wishing for a summer birthday. As far as my wake from the holidays, it involves lots of cleaning, organizing and relaxing before the new business venture takes off. Heather

  7. Actually, I rather like this look-especially the top! I totally feel you. My birthday is in early February and I always envied my sister and brother who's birthdays are in June and August. So hard to do anything when it's cold and close to New Years/Valentine's Day.

  11. I like that top - shiny! I also like the boots like that. I can't resist pirate-y things!

I'm working between Christmas and New Year's, thinking about that. I have lots of plans in January, so also looking forward to those. And! It's L's and my 15th anniversary this year, so that means a trip to Fluevog in Vancouver!

  12. Cute boots! I am also feeling the after-Christmas lull... I'm just lazy this week and it's taking 8 cups of coffee to wake me up. Hopefully NYE will rejuvenate me! Happy New Years! :)

  13. I like the look of the boots - I have some black slouchy boots I've been hanging on to and been thinking of trying something like that too, so now I just might after seeing how you did it!

  14. I think this is a great, casual look. The boots look great folded down like that. And I love the black paired with the olive green. It's sometimes so hard to shake that sluggish feeling during the holidays. I know I have been struggling with the same thing myself. But hope you guys had a wonderful holiday, nonetheless!
