Cardigan - Christian Dior, thrifted, altered
Tee - GAP, thrifted
Jeans - Mossimo, thrifted newstock
Boots - Fluevog, ebay
Finally! Color! I am so happy to be able to finally share this score. This lovely sweater is my second thrifted Christian Dior item ($5!). I found it while scanning the men's department for teh hubs, but I knew he wouldn't wear this. But I couldn't leave it! So I logically brought it home and waited until I had enough projects built up to pull out my machine and take it up. It's a thinner knit acrylic so I figured it couldn't hurt to take it in. I cut off a bunch from the bottom, the sides and the cuffs of the arms. It still has the slouchy grandpa cardigan look, but in a much more flattering shape.

I paired it with two of my favorite neutral items: Dark wash skinny jeans and this gradient grey tee. I wore my Vogs to combat the preppy feeling of the cardigan.
Thanks everyone for a wonderful week. Don't forget to visit everyone and see their neutral outfits for all week. Participants please remember to send Keely [
kkmkreations[at]live[dot]com] your favorite outfit from your week to be included in the round up. Thanks!
I am so jealous of your thrifting skills! Love the colour and shape of this cardigan! :-)
ReplyDeleteThrifting is just the best thing ever. I'm always pretty leery of altering knits, so I'm totally impressed by your courage, as well as your sewing skills. :)
ReplyDeleteThat's a great pop of colour, and a great, casual outfit. I do love that shade of blue quite a lot.
Thanks so much for co-sponsoring this challenge with Keely. I've enjoyed it very much!
Beautiful color and your tailoring makes it perfect. Shortening it, etc., was smart. I admire your talent with a needle!

That cardigan is such a gorgeous color! Good find :)
ReplyDeleteI skipped the pop of color day, because I think that's my general fall-back style, anyway. And also, my pop of color on Saturday would have been my red sweatpants or something...
Love the cardigan, what a bargain 5 bucks for Dior! wow, thrifting is the best :D
ReplyDeleteSkimming through your blog (which I love!) and I came across this post. I love that you altered a sweater. I never would have thought of that, but it opens up a ton of options when you are thriftin g. Thanks for the inspiration!
