Aaah, Cognac. One of summer's trendiest shades. One of the orange-brown shades that make a great neutral. And one of the few neutrals I do not partake in. I just don't often get drawn to the brown shade. I have two things that could possibly qualify as cognac. The leather parts on these faryl robin boots, and
these Frye flats.

Instead of cognac, I decided to pull out my favorite white dress and layer it with this cropped sweater I thrifted a couple Super Saturday's ago. I kept passing it up during my normal thrifting, but at a $2 I couldn't leave it. Speaking of not-leaving, I thrifted another fur coat not too long before the ban. This one is even heavier than the black one (turned vest). So it hasn't made it out of the closet until today. Today is freaking cold! But I felt glamorous today.
Participants of Neutrals Week! Please remember to send Keely [
kkmkreations[at]live[dot]com] your favorite outfit from your week to be included in the round up. Thanks!
You do look quite glamorous today. Love the sweater layered over your super awesome dress. The fur coat looks so cozy and warm :)
ReplyDeleteSweeeeet jacket! I know what you mean, I have a pair of shoes and maaaybe a belt that would qualify as cognac, but really, I think they're just brown.
ReplyDeleteThat coat makes you look SUPER glam! I'm so jealous, especially since all the women here seem to be wearing fur coats too!
ReplyDeleteThose boots are WONDERFUL! And I think they totally pass as cognac :)
ReplyDeleteWhich one of you picked cognac? Must have been Keely.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your solution. What I came up with just might be my best one this week. Who knows, two more days to go!
Gotta say, this project has jolted me out of my Fall blahs into full manic creative mode. Thank you SO MUCH!
Ahhh so maybe I was actually wearing cognac (I wasn't too sure as it looked brown to me!) I really love the green tights, white dress and that jacket is oh so fab! It's freaking cold here too and I'm not enjoying it!
ReplyDeleteYou look fabulous in this outfit. You know I love the coat. I just love your shoes/boots. These are so cool.
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome jacket! You look fabulous! I love cognac, but you wouldn't know it because I don't own very much of it. In fact, I had to scrounge to find some for today! Love your boots too Megan!
ReplyDeleteCognac is such a difficult colour! I only own one item in it (but I'll be wearing it tomorrow).
ReplyDeleteLove the boots, the skirt and that rabbit fur coat is adorable. Do you know the song "Rabbit Fur Coat" by Jenny Lewis and the Watson Twins? Look for it.
I like cognac, but for some reason I don't really wear it.
ReplyDeleteI love that jacket! It makes me want to reach in the computer and touch it! It looks so soft!
ReplyDeleteI thought you'd like my star necklace, I don't know if there is a Charming Charlie near you, but I just picked that up over Thanksgiving weekend. :)
I love the jacket! It's a great find :)
ReplyDeleteThis is definitely a neutral that I don't have a ton of experience with, but it was fun to try something different!
And you look glamorous! I love your jacket! I'm still on the look out for the perfect fur vest. I adore that dress and am so pleased you found a way to wear in the colder months. and those boots are beyond fabulous!
ReplyDeleteI think the stripes in that coat are cognac. :-) This was as oh my god picture ... completely not what I expected. I read that you wore the sweater, and I was like ummm .. Megan, that's a coat. grin. This is just fabulous. The entire look. what fun.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Kari - cognac stripes on your fur! What a glamorous outfit - loves.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't do the fur (I get squeamish thinking about it. I'd be vegetarian if I really let myself think about it!), I love the glam it brings!!
ReplyDeletethat jacket is soooo AWESOME! And I feel like if you find fur on a thrifting adventure it's like SAVING it from being thrown out and having some poor animal die in vain... right? RIGHT?! ... well I'm just gonna keep telling myself that anyway...
ReplyDeleteI spend so much time wistfully poking around in All Saints, and wondering what the heck I'd do with their gorgeous, but to me, difficult clothes. What you've done here is great, and I'm kind of glad to see I'm not the only one who finds cognac a bit difficult.
ReplyDeletethat dress is pretty bomb
ReplyDeleteI thought those boots were shoes and socks! Clever!
