Friend Friday: Dream Job

Top - 4ever young
Capris - thrifted
Boots - John Fluevog, ebay

1. Fess up – if you could do anything professionally what would it be?

I'd start my own personal shopping business. Not just limited to clothing, but helping people who are unable to pick up dry cleaning, go grocery shopping, make that extra stop in their day.

Or read for a living, but that involves writing.

2. What draws you to this?

I'm good at shopping. I always have been. I can find great deals, know how to utilize coupons. I like helping people, but not in the traditional sense. I prefer to work with individuals who need my help rather than try to sell product or credit cards to customers who just want to buy their stuff and get out of my store.

3. When did you first start dreaming about this ideal?

I've only recently realized I want to do this, but it's kind of been ruminating back there in the old noggin all along.

4. What’s holding you back from going all in?

No driver's license. No business license, no money to start up, no idea if there's even a need for this service. Fear of the current economy. I think the question is what is pushing this forward?

5. Sometimes the first step is the hardest… what’s one step you can take now on the way to realizing your dream?

I suppose getting off my butt and signing up for a small business class out at the college or getting my driver's license. I also feel like I need to finish my degree before setting off on my own business adventure. Priorities just haven't skewed that way yet. Maybe someday.

I'm spending today in "sweats". I'm feeling a bit under the weather. But hey, I do have a new book to read and some tortellini in the fridge begging to be made into chicken "noodle" soup.

  1. Well for being under the weather, you look great! I hope you feel better. I have long wanted to shop for a living too, but you're right. It would be hard in this economy.

  2. I do think with an aging population that there will be a greater need for this kind of service in the future. Hope the timing turns out to be right for you! Love your illustration of your look! Another career possibility? Eileen

  4. I love the asymmetric top. Hope you get to feeling better.

I think the hardest part about working for yourself is just doing it. Good luck :)

  5. Take advantage of a business class or two. I kick myself for not looking into it.

I never tire of that top. It's so awesome!

  6. Your "sweats" days look more pulled together than me most days! I'm sure there's always room in your electives for a business class or two to pique your interest!
