Swimmin and Grillin

Top - Vera for Kohls, swap
PeddlePushers - Banana Republic, thrifted
Belt - thrifted
Sandals - X-Appeal, thrifted
Yesterday was the birthday of a friend of mine and D's. (That sentence is grammatically wackadoodle) So today we'd doing a little belated get together. I promised the last time we went swimming that I'd grill out instead of heading to a restaurant. While the temps are still sky high, I'm braving the grill anyway. Also it's unofficially Red Week. I've been drawn to all my red clothes lately. This rust colored top is from the swap I just did with Heather of Style Journey. I just love the asymmetrical drapey neckline.

I'm also finally signed up for classes. I'm both excited and dreading it. School gives me great opportunities to dress up and get out of the house, but this summer has been so exciting and busy that I almost don't want it to end! Hope your week is as exciting as mine! What have you done this summer season?

  1. This looks great on you! I knew it would be perfect for you. And I would have never thought to pair this shirt with the belt like you did. Or the color of your capris. Yah for swaps! We can give clothes new homes and breathe new life into them :)

  3. I think red makes for a great summer color! I love the color of the belt against the rusty hue of the top - adorable. Sounds like you're keeping busy and enjoying yourself this summer! So glad!

I completely understand what you mean about that "back to school" feeling. I just plotted out my own classes for fall term and it feels so weird to be thinking about it all ready. Fall will be here before we know it!

I am dreading classes starting back so bad.. ugh. I've go anatomy this semester.. not looking forward to it. Plus side is that I'm taking it with my sister, so that should be interesting. I'm just so ready to get out and get started with my career. lol
Have fun with your grill out!

  5. What a cute top!! We've grilled by the pool a number of times this summer. There's just something about chowing down on grilled burgers or hot dogs, while in your swimsuit and then jumping into the pool afterwards. =)

  7. I'm thinking I like all of your outfits that combine capris/pedalpushers/cropped pants and heeled sandals / pumpdals. What did you grill?

  8. @ Cara - Everything. I made burgers, hotdogs, chicken kabobs with fresh vegetables from the garden (yellow squash, onion, bell pepper), baked potatoes and salad. Also, Oh My God, it was way too hot to grill. But the burgers were amazing, so it was worth it.

  9. This summer, I have...moped around the house and grumbled about work. Sounds exciting, right? Heh.

I LOVE the color combo. That belt is perfect with that top! And I love the non-word wackadoodle. It makes me smile.

  10. I like the little touches that announce the presence of a skillful dresser. Here, it's the belt whose contrasting color is exactly perfect. You got style, sister!
