In which I babble about Denim

 Snake necklace - DIY project
Silk blouse - The Limited, thrifted
Trouser Jeans - Banana Republic, thrifted
Shoes - Eject

Today was glorious and lovely! 70F, sunny and the perfect day to hit the thrift store. Haha! I went "shopping" Thursday with my BFF to try and find a perfect pair of dark wash skinny jeans (something the thrift store lacks). I couldn't bring myself to drop $50 on that perfect pair - afterall I spend around that much for bags of stuff while thrifting.

I decided to hit the denim racks at Goodwill with an open mind. My weight has fluctuated a bit over the winter and many of my favorite jeans no longer fit comfortably, including the latest pair I got from Keely!! Nooo! Dresses and skirts are wonderfully forgiving, but I am an equal-opportunity trouser wearer and need my pants. I actually came out today with my absolute favorite fit pair of jeans [Curvy Boho by NY&Co for those interested] that I had back in 2009 - only one size bigger! Huge score there.

In hindsight, I'm not sure I love these trouser jeans. I thought they'd make a good replacement trouser jean for the ones that were too small, but these seem to have a similar issue of a tight waist band and wrinkle if you look at them too hard. I wonder if it's just a commonality of the trouser jean cut.

If you made it through all that - Kudos! Tell me about your favorite jeans.

  1. Megan I love your new banner! It's just gorgeous!

Ugh, jean shopping. Never a fun experience for me haha. You must have good look pant shopping though because you have tons of great pants and jeans! It's awesome you found a pair of jeans to replace your old pair!

It's not hard to guess my favorite jeans by reading my blog! Definitely my PacSun skinny jeans. I've bought 3 pair because the fit is so perfect and since I do hate jean shopping so much it's just easier to buy several pairs of the ones that work lol.

  2. I have the exact same issue with my new ones. The wrinkle if you look at it. I think they look nice on you.

  3. Oh that sucks about all your jeans! But don't get rid of them yet...I tend to gain in winter and lose in the summer, so there is hope. I like the new ones, but the wrinkle thing has got to be annoying.

  4. @ Keely - Yeah, I'm sticking back my favorites that are a bit too snug.. I gotta make room though for new ones that fit so a couple pairs have already been sent off to be donated. Delicate balance of a small closet!

  5. Ooh, I *DO* love your new banner!

Do you have a Steinmart where you are? That's where I got my go-to pair of skinnies and they were only $20. I like how the trouser jeans look on you!

  6. I love the new banner! And the jeans are great as well! Way to go finding a pair with a fit you love too! Oh, and while I feel like I need some more skinny jeans too, I'm interested to try something high waisted with a flare leg to it as well. (Although I wear boot cut jeans on most days...) :)

  7. Um, I'm a copycat. I, too, like your banner.

I like your trouser jeans! I don't know what my favorite pair is. I like the brand Kut from the Kloth. They aren't $100+ jeans, but they're not ON sale jeans. I call them middle of the road jeans. I can find them for ~$30-40 at the Nordstrom Rack which isn't as good as thrifted, but not quite $50. They are pretty good quality. I can wear them to work so I justify the purchase that way.

    Hope all is well!

  8. I love LOVE the new banner! Trouser jeans are my favorite, I picked up a decent pair from LOFT with a gift card from Christmas that I like. I have found that thrifting jeans doesn't work out for me but, I'm happy you found something that works!

  9. Ah! You changed your header again! I love it! You're so adorable.

I think those jeans look great on you. I really need to find some good trouser jeans. I'm not keen on spending $50 on any one item either but I might have to. Perhaps I should take your cue and check the thrift stores first.

I've been away all weekend and am trying to get caught up before I have to get to bed early tonight. I haven't heard from you so if you get a chance, send me an email and let me know how things are going this week.
