Friend Friday - Thanks

 Sweater Dress - vintage
Terry cloth Leggings - Tjmaxx(?), gift
Boots - Gianni Bini, gift
Headband - DIY

In middle school, I had a "best friend" who listened to really cool "indie" music. Sometimes she'd share CDs or let me listen to them at her house. But as many bands as she introduced me to, she tried to hide from me. I know this doesn't sound relevant to a primarily fashion blog - but it is.

I was a nerdy little tween, who didn't know there was more out there than what was being played on the radio. Years later, I can look back and see those "indie" bands were really pretty popular, and today are actually well known artists in their genres. This doesn't stop me from feeling the guilt of middle school bullying every time I listen to "Blame it on the Tetons" by Modest Mouse.

Bringing this full circle - I'd never be where I am today without the knowledge that bloggers share. I would never know about Miz Mooz without SockDreams, Fluevog without Sal, or All Saints without Audi. I'd never wear anything remotely floral or animal print without Keely, nor bright tights without Iris. I can't even name every drop of inspiration that the blog-world has given to me, but I thank every one of you who has shared your knowledge, supported me in my developing style, not only that but encouraging me forward. I can't tell you how much it means.

Instead of answering Friend Friday, I thought I should thank my friends this Friday.

  1. For whatever reason, you remind me of Goldie Hawn here. It might be the color block and pixie cut she had on Laugh-In. Your eyes look so amazing!

  2. @ Jen - I can see it! Thanks so much~

  3. L_O_V_E that colorblocking! It reminds me of fashion design school stuff in the late 80s/early 90s or of CrossColors

Thanks for reading. Got something to say? I'd love to hear it!
